RACE ONE
HESLUVABLE (9) is on the back up from Monday where he was sent out as the fav and looking to fight them off from the front, had to settle for the silver behind a swooping WESTERN ACTION. Beaten by a tricky gate two starts back, he will rely on some factors here, but this looks winnable. LORD DENZEL (2) paid too big a price for the leading rights last start and faded after a fast third split. Runner-up at Redcliffe three runs back, he can get forward again here and with a steadier time in the early stages will be able to mount a challenge. BAD BOY BORIS (5) is yet to strike a blow in eight appearances here at HQ and will be chasing a change in fortunes after being out of the money at his past four at Redcliffe. He has claims. ROCCO VARIETY (8) had the pocket trail in the same race claimed by WESTERN ACTION here on Monday when holding on for the bronze. He will be searching for openings again here.
SELECTIONS: HESLUVABLE (9), LORD DENZEL (2), BAD BOY BORIS (5), ROCCO VARIETY (8) SUGGESTED BET: HESLUVABLE (9) to win
RACE TWO
Eased to the inside last start from gate 3, the soft trip paid dividends as WESTERN ACTION (7) found open space and charged over the top to claim the prize. With good early hustle, he might just be able to get across these and might just give some cheek in this despite the wide gate. COLBY ART (8) was put on the front-end last start where the rights to light the lamps came at a 27.3 opening expense. That proved too costly as he faded late. Runner-up the start prior from the trail, he will be relying on a slice of luck here but finds a winnable contest. CRIME TIME (6) was a tough 2nd here three starts back when sitting parked and holding a 3m deficit behind FLY CHEVAL. Unable to see it out over the 2138 last start, the gate hurts. JUST ONE GOOD ONE (2) held the 1x1 trail last start but could not go with them in the closing stages as BRAEVIEW FELLA arrived. From this alley, he can chase an improved return.
SELECTIONS: WESTERN ACTION (7), COLBY ART (8), CRIME TIME (6), JUST ONE GOOD ONE (2) SUGGESTED BET: WESTERN ACTION (7) each/way
RACE THREE
First up in Qld last start from this same gate, MONTEREI DUKE (5) was sent forward and forcing the issue after working in the first 600m, took control at the bell. Pulling clear to an 8m margin in smart fashion, he can build off that and finds the right opposition to rinse and repeat. MAN OF ACTION (1) secured the ideal trip in behind the action last start and took the last shot when under 2m from the in-form PYRRHIC DANCER. Luckless behind that same winner the start prior, he can secure the ideal trip here to aim up for the last shot at them. BUKTHSYSTEM (2) was a winner at his last outing as a 13YO when working to the front and justifying the short quote to see it out. Not suited off a tough trip last start, he can feature here. STUDLEIGH PUNTER (8) maps for the cosy trip in behind the speed, a position he settled in last start when holding on for the bronze behind GRACENAVA. He can chime in again here.
SELECTIONS: MONTEREI DUKE (5), MAN OF ACTION (1), BUKTHSYSTEM (2), STUDLEIGH PUNTER (8) SUGGESTED BET: MONTEREI DUKE (5) to win
RACE FOUR
Breaking through for her second career victory when leading throughout at Redcliffe last start, SWEET RIPPIN (1) can look to build off the effort. Working to the front to take control and claim an 8m margin, she lands all the favours to look for the repeat. FACT FINDER (4) will take benefit from his last start when resuming for his first 3YO outing and making a nice close out to be just 1m from the handy DEFENSE ATTORNEY. A winner at his second career start, with added fitness and experience, he can challenge. FLY CHEVAL (3) has ringcraft to call on in this assignment with some of the main dangers boasting far less race experience. Overcoming the second line here three back, she has claims. ARTS PEREGRINE (6) is effective when saved for one shot at them and eased early here might just appreciate this level of opponent. Beaten a neck two starts back, he is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: SWEET RIPPIN (1), FACT FINDER (4), FLY CHEVAL (3), ARTS PEREGRINE (6) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE
A tricky one to line up here with a number of experienced campaigners facing off against some talented but less seasoned performers. ROCKNROLL MAX (9) was too slick at Marburg from a second line gate two starts back and then last start was just a neck away. This is within reach. ONLYSBEST (6) has placed at his past two starts under differing scenarios, the latest when sent to the front and trying to grip on in finishing 3m from the winner. Chasing from back in the pack after being snookered the start prior, he can force the issue here and look to throw it down. INCOGNITO (8) cut a strong mile in front here two starts back when claiming an 8m margin. Runner-up last start when collared late, he will be probing for the openings here. STUDLEIGH MARK (4) was trying to stave off the challengers last start at Redcliffe when forced to settle for the silver behind HEY MISTER TAYLOR. He is a podium hope again here.
SELECTIONS: ROCKNROLL MAX (9), ONLYSBEST (6), INCOGNITO (8), STUDLEIGH MARK (4) SUGGESTED BET: ROCKNROLL MAX (9) to win
RACE SIX
Sent out fav last start against softer company, GOLDEN BAY (2) was forced to do it the tough way when parked. Fighting to hold on for the bronze when under 2m from the winner, his effort here four runs back when dictating in front suggests if he lights the lamps here, he can cash in. MARTY THE MARTIAN (8) was resuming from a spell here three starts back when asked to grind it out first over and finishing a game 3rd. Strong to the line from deep field at his next appearance behind BEACH ON FIRE, he was a close 2nd last start and will be probing for the openings. LITTLELIONELJAMES (6) settled in the running line last start from gate 4 and was doing his best work down the stretch when beaten a lip behind DANIEL BOOM. He can be charging late. BETTING ORIGIN (7) faced an inside second line gate last start in a qualifier when locked away and finishing midfield as GLOVER saw it out. The gate does the chances no favours here.
SELECTIONS: GOLDEN BAY (2), MARTY THE MARTIAN (8), LITTLELIONELJAMES (6), BETTING ORIGIN (7) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SEVEN
Faced with the second line at his past two starts PUSHINIT UPHILL (1) secures a mapping improvement and is presented with the ideal scenario from this gate. A winner four runs back from the trail, he should be in the perfect position to strike. MUSIC MOTH (6) was a Redcliffe winner five runs back when taking control and ending a win drought. Runner-up in three of her past four, she was sent to the front from gate 6 last week and forced the issue to take control and just went under. She can get forward again here. LULU MAE (9) was a winner just before Christmas when finding the trail and finishing best. Hanging tough when parked last start when 6m from the winner, she is in the mix. IDEAL TIGER (8) does not present the best conversion figures on this deck but has not been too far away in recent outings and maps for the soft trip which can see him chime in.
SELECTIONS: PUSHINIT UPHILL (1), MUSIC MOTH (6), LULU MAE (9), IDEAL TIGER (8) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-6-8-9
RACE EIGHT
Third up in Qld last start when faced with gate 3, MAJOR MEMPHIS (1) was briefly exposed before receiving cover and then finishing over the top of them in a new PB. With 3m to spare in that event, it followed a 4m 2nd and with the chance to stalk the speed, can strike late. ALWAYS SMOKIN (7) is afforded no favours from the wide gate but might just find this opposition a shade easier than his recent appearances. A winner three starts back when sent forward from gate 5 to dictate, he can look to defy the gate to throw down the challenge. MACH ASSASSIN (5) is first up in Qld for newly relocated trainer Doug Hewitt and was a Bathurst winner three runs back when swooping late. Cheap position will aid his chances. INTO THE MYSTIC (2) was first up from a spell last start when sent straight to the front and able to carve out a big mile. The veteran of just five starts, this is the next step, but she looks smart.
SELECTIONS: MAJOR MEMPHIS (1), ALWAYS SMOKIN (7), MACH ASSASSIN (5), INTO THE MYSTIC (2) SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR MEMPHIS (1) to win
