RACE ONE
Still chasing his first win since arriving in Qld, BOBBY WATERHOUSE (5) might just have found the right conditions to capitalise here. Placed in all four appearances, he was nabbed in the closing stages last start by the airborne BANGKOK DEEJAY. The gate stings, but is up to it. BRONSKI ZULU (4) was sent to the front last start from gate 1 and through a steady opening half, was unable to repel them in a 55.1 closing 800. A smart winner the start prior when seeing them out after burning at both ends, he can throw it down to them here. DOCTA FEELGOOD (3) was set into attack mode last start at Redcliffe from the second line, moving to sit parked and then pull clear, only to stop and be nabbed late. He can feature again. KING VANCE (8) is giving away plenty of experience to his rivals, but he can boast a smart record in his four outings. Runner-up last week to BETTING ORIGIN, he will be probing.
SELECTIONS: BOBBY WATERHOUSE (5), BRONSKI ZULU (4), DOCTA FEELGOOD (3), KING VANCE (8) SUGGESTED BET: BOBBY WATERHOUSE (5) to win
RACE TWO
Resuming from a slight let up to step out for the first time this season, AARDIES FLASH (3) has landed the gate and conditions to strike fresh. Hitting the line strongly at his last appearance at 3, his trial behind FOR REAL LIFE was tidy and with the closing power can arrive. THE TAX CULLECTOR (5) was the best of the chasing pack last time out when grabbing the silver behind a dictating JIMARTEE over the 2138. Tough gates have hampered his chances in recent outings, but he can press forward to issue a challenge here. JIMARTEE (8) has been in great form since arriving in Qld, running in the top-two in all four appearances. Too slick for them last week in front, he will be probing for the openings. LIGHTNING DAN (1) was angled to the poles last start from a second line gate and then never found clear air. With the chance of settling closer on a soft trip, he is a podium player.
SELECTIONS: AARDIES FLASH (3), THE TAX CULLECTOR (5), JIMARTEE (8), LIGHTNING DAN (1) SUGGESTED BET: AARDIES FLASH (3) to win
RACE THREE
Likely to be crowned the Queensland 3YO of the Year for 2023, FOR REAL LIFE (5) resumes from a small break to kick off his 4YO term. Closing out last season with four on the bounce that included the G1 Triad, his preparatory trial was sharp and he looks too classy for these. WISPER A SECRET (10) is another stepping out for the first time this season as a 4YO and comes through the same FOR REAL LIFE trial. A Peak of the Creek Heat winner three runs back, he was 6m from the winner in the Final. The gate makes it a tough ask to chase fresh up. HAY THERE JOE (8) was eased from gate 5 to find the poles last start before closing it out in nice order to grab the bronze behind BANGKOK DEEJAY. With the soft trip, he will be probing. R ELEVEN ART (3) was a tough winner here three starts back when sent to the chair where he was able to grind out a tough victory. Placed in both runs since, he can chime in once again.
SELECTIONS: FOR REAL LIFE (5), WISPER A SECRET (10), HAY THERE JOE (8), R ELEVEN ART (3) SUGGESTED BET: FOR REAL LIFE (5) to win Exotics 5 / 1-3-8-10
RACE FOUR
Resuming off an Inter Dominion campaign that saw him earn a ticket to the Final, FUTURE ASSURED (6) comes into this without a public trial. Darting across the field to find the poles in the Final before releasing, his heat efforts were strong, including a Round 1 win at the mile when finding the front. He can return in style. MIRACLE MOOSE (1) backs up from Tuesday where he tackled a veteran’s contest and was taken back from a wide gate over the 2138 trip. Making a late raid, he was closing it out in nice style to grab the bronze behind SEND IT. Fitter again after two runs back from a let up, the gate is a huge help. NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (5) should appreciate a small field as he has the closing speed to chime in off tempo. Chasing a hat-trick of wins, he bumped into LEAP TO FAME in successive runs. Look for him late.
SELECTIONS: FUTURE ASSURED (6), MIRACLE MOOSE (1), NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (5) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FIVE
Building off three successive placings, BRONSKI DELIGHT (9) was able to finish over the top of them last start to claim a 2m margin in a similarly graded contest. Beaten in red figures two starts back in a strong mile, the gate makes it tricky, but she has the class to overcome it. PLAYA BLANCA (5) has hit some form with a pair of wins sitting either side of a half-head 2nd from her past three starts. Grinding out a tough win last start when sitting parked from gate 6 and claiming a PB mile, she can press forward to throw down the challenge. BETTOR ROMANCE (8) was trying to chime in over the closing stages last start when runner-up to PLAYA BLANCA. Darting up the passing lane two starts back to score, she can be chiming in. MIGHT AS WELL (7) was a passing lane winner here four starts back when darting through to claim a narrow win. Runner-up in all three since from wide gates, she can feature again.
SELECTIONS: BRONSKI DELIGHT (9), PLAYA BLANCA (5), BETTOR ROMANCE (8), MIGHT AS WELL (7) SUGGESTED BET: BRONSKI DELIGHT (9) to win
RACE SIX
His numbers may not be overly inspiring, but the recent efforts of AMAMI (4) belie the true story of his efforts. Strong to the line last start after retreating from gate 5, the start prior he attacked the line in the closing stages when 3m from the passing lane winner. REASON TO BE (1) darted up the passing lane three starts back to get within a half-neck of the winner. With a handy record at the middle trip and the chance to tuck in behind the speed, he can await the lane and issue the closing challenge. SCOTCH EN ICE (8) will likely be shuffled back from this alley, but with the economical trip can be looking to make a late play. SURF ACE (5) was making some nice metres in the latter stages last time when 3m astern of the winner CHAMONIX. Settling handy in the line-up, he is a podium hope.
SELECTIONS: AMAMI (4), REASON TO BE (1), SCOTCH EN ICE (8), SURF ACE (5) SUGGESTED BET: AMAMI (4) to win
RACE SEVEN
Sent across from gate 6 here last week, there was no lead for DEUS EX (3) and he was forced to park out. In for the fight and finishing just a head from the winner TURN IT UP, he should appreciate the return to this grade and from the gate looks to get every opportunity. ROCK BOTTOM (1) tackled veteran’s company last start when rolling forward to sit parked and finish 9m from the impressive winner JAZZY STAR. With the early speed to ensure he maintains the trail, he can be looking to make a closing challenge. TARGARYEN (2) was snookered on the poles two starts back when sent to the post as fav but fishing 5m from HY VOLTAGE. Midfield to TURN IT UP last week, he is a podium player here. BRAEDOS LAD (6) makes his first Qld appearance for the visiting Rickie Alchin barn and brings a smart last start 5m deficit behind STINGRAY TARA. The wide gate makes it a tough ask.
SELECTIONS: DEUS EX (3), ROCK BOTTOM (1), TARGARYEN (2), BRAEDOS LAD (6) SUGGESTED BET: DEUS EX (3) to win
RACE EIGHT
Always a consistent performer, SUNRISE RUBY (8) made the most of a return to Redcliffe last time out when taking them all the way. Placed here over this trip at her previous two, her win conversion on the big deck is a concern, but with the right trip she can capitalise. VINDICATE (9) has hit the board in seven of her past eight starts, the latest when luckless in finding open space and finishing 2m from the winner LULU LUCIFER. A similar margin against the ’boys’ the start prior as MURPHYS REWARD arrived, she can issue the challenge here. GIRL FROM ROSEDALE (7) was given the ODM embargo after making an error in a Golden Guitar heat. Strong to the line from outside the second line at her next start, she is in the mix. SHEZA CRACKER (1) has good arm hustle and can look to optimise it from this gate. Collared in the last strides two starts back, she can be in the mix for the money.
SELECTIONS: SUNRISE RUBY (8), VINDICATE (9), GIRL FROM ROSEDALE (7), SHEZA CRACKER (1) SUGGESTED BET: VINDICATE (9) win/place
RACE NINE
Relying on some factors in his favour from this alley, ETERNAL GOLD (8) looks to map for the ideal trip behind the speed and will be just hoping for the momentum to be there when the lane presents. Strong to the line two starts back, he was grabbed late last start and can arrive. OFFYAROCKER CROCKER (1) was runner-up last two starts back over the Redcliffe sprint trip when a closer margin could have been recorded if the gap opened sooner. Forced to sit parked last start at the 2138 when 6m from the winner, the gate in this line up gives him the chance. REDS STAR DEAL (5) was doing some good work in the closing stages last start when 2m from the winner BETTING ORIGIN. Asked to hang tough first over the start prior, he is in the mix. ROCK OF DELIGHT (4) was beaten by gate 7 last start when retreating off the arm to sit rearward and then was never a factor. Heavily supported first up for the new stable two back, he can feature here.
SELECTIONS: ETERNAL GOLD (8), OFFYAROCKER CROCKER (1), REDS STAR DEAL (5), ROCK OF DELIGHT (4) SUGGESTED BET: ETERNAL GOLD (8) to win
