Catch The Fire 1:46.8 ($1.4 million), the exciting, young stallion standing his second season at Pete and Chantal McMullen’s Somerset Farms in Queensland, sired important Stakes winners in Ohio last weekend.
Prolific Fire, a two-year-old filly, led throughout to score her first success in a $65,000 Ohio Sires Stakes division in 1:57 at Northfield Park, Ohio on Sunday (July 21). Sectionline Flame (by Catch The Fire) finished runner-up.
Prolific Fire has now banked $52,300.
The Catch The Fire colts Pants On Fire and My First Fire finished second and third respectively in a $65,000 OSS division for colts in 1:52.2.
The following day the Catch The Fire two-year-old colt Catch The Express broke his maiden when he saluted in a $20,000 Buckeye Stallion Series division in 1:55.8 at Northfield Park.
Catch The Fire in his first North American crop left 50 foals, of which 34 have already raced, 12 have emerged successful with nine in 2:00 and three in 1:55. They have earned $207,167.
Catch The Fire is the third leading first season sire in 2024 behind Papi Rob Hanover and Tall Dark Stranger.
A Rocknroll Dance, who stands alongside Catch The Fire at Somerset Farms, sired a ‘new’ two-year-old winner in Rockin Bull, who scored on debut in 1:59.4 at Warragul on Monday (July 22).
A Rocknroll Dance has left the winners of $2.4 million to date this year and is seventh on the all aged sires’ list.
