RACE ONE First up for the new stable here last week off this same gate, MIKI MAGIC (7) caught the eye when making good metres and darting back to the inside when runner-up to SMOKESHOW. A Redcliffe winner two starts back, she finds the right opposition to open the metro account. BETTING JEWEL (4) did not find the smoothest passage here last start and could have been closer to the winner SMOKESHOW if the gap opened sooner. Only beaten a head here three starts back, if she can position cheaply, she can issue the challenge. THE VIXEN (6) was sent around them in the early stages from the second line last time to park out over the middle trip and fought to the wire. A winner two back, the gate stings her chances. AURORA JOY (9) was eased from the wide gate last start before making good metres in the closing stages to grab the bronze. Trailing through for position, look for her chiming in late. SELECTIONS: MIKI MAGIC (7), BETTING JEWEL (4), THE VIXEN (6), AURORA JOY (9) SUGGESTED BET: MIKI MAGIC (7) to win
RACE TWO
With his hoof on the till for a number of weeks awaiting the right conditions, ROCKNPENNY (1) looks to get his chance to cash in here. Chasing behind the talented DUKE OF SCOTLAND for the bronze two starts back, not much went his way last time. TOSSIES SON (2) was chasing a hat-trick last start when trying to make ground wide out when RAGING SEA put them all to the sword for a huge win. Finishing best from the second line to scire the start prior, he can be handy enough to issue the challenge. GLENEAGLE VEE CEE (3) tackled a strong 3YO contest last start when midfield behind THE JANITOPR. Runner-up the start prior when looking for three on the bounce, he has claims here. ALTA SENSATION (4) was sent to the post as the fav here last week but had to settle for the silver when just losing some momentum when needing space. He can be thereabouts again.
SELECTIONS: ROCKNPENNY (1), TOSSIES SON (2), GLENEAGLE VEE CEE (3), ALTA SENSATION (4) SUGGESTED BET: ROCKNPENNY (1) to win
RACE THREE
Runner-up in both runs since returning from a spell, CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (3) can build off the fitness and look to capitalise here third up. Finding the front and then releasing here last week but unable to gun down ALWAYS SMOKIN, he can press the issue again here to stake a claim. HOT AND TREACHEROUS (7) was mighty impressive first up last start when stepping out for the new barn for the first time. Sent straight to the front, he was able to stomp out a PB mile with a 2m margin on the wire. The gate stings, but off the first up run, he can throw it down. TIMS A TROOPER (6) will take further benefit from his latest run when second up from a long spell. Darting through on the inside for the bronze, he can be joining in here. ARODA (5) returns from a NZ campaign where he finished down the line in the NZ Cup after being shuffled back soon after the start. He has podium claims in this.
SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (3), HOT AND TREACHEROUS (7), TIMS A TROOPER (6), ARODA (5) SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (3) to win
RACE FOUR
Stepping up against tougher opposition last week and not helped when stung with the outside front-line gate, HIRANYA (3) chased home soundly to finish midfield behind ALWAYS SMOKIN. Collared in the last strides two starts back, he finds the right set up to capitalise. TARGARYEN (1) had an early dip last start but was unable to find the front before receiving the 1x1 trail, Unable to reel them in over the closing stages when 3rd to COLLECT A DIME, the stalking trip here should be ideal and he can take the closing shot. MYDADSAID (8) made the most of conditions here last week when second up from a spell to take them all the way. With the cosy trip, he will be probing the gaps. AMAMI (2) can stay out of the early battle and still position handy enough to be making a late raid to chase a podium finish. Beaten by a wide gate last start, he is better served in this. SELECTIONS: HIRANYA (3), TARGARYEN (1), MYDADSAID (8), AMAMI (2) SUGGESTED BET: HIRANYA (3) to win
RACE FIVE
A winner of his past two starts and a talented 4YO on the rise, DUKE OF SCOTLAND (12) can make light work of the extreme gate to chase a hat-trick. Put on the engine last time and powering away to a 19m blitz, he has a clear edge on his rivals to complete the threePete. GLOVER (2) found the pocket trail from two off the second line last start and was not that far from the winner COLLECT A DIME. Wide off the track the start prior, eh can fire some early bullets from this gate and look to mount some form of challenge. R ELEVEN ART (9) was buried away on the pegs two starts back and made late metres for the silver behind RACING TIME. Beaten by gate 7 last start, he can follow through to feature. THROWYAARMSAROUNDME (1) could have been closer if the gap arrived sooner here last week when missing a cheque behind MYDADSAID. He can be ready to make a late raid here.
SELECTIONS: DUKE OF SCOTLAND (12), GLOVER (2), R ELEVEN ART (9), THROWYAARMSAROUNDME (1), SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 12 / 1-2-8-9 / 1-2-8-9
RACE SIX He past three starts might not show much by way of figure form, but DIAMOND SHOOZ (1) might just have secured the right conditions here to turn it around. Three starts back she chased home the jet CHYNCHILLA and her past two against all comers have been sound. A return to mares’ company off this gate can be the catalyst for the W. SHES FULLOFSPIRIT (10) is afforded no favours from this gate but tackling mares’ company after clashing with some classy 3YO opposition in recent starts will be a welcome assignment. Chasing AARDIE B MIKI twice and THE JANITOR in her past three starts, she can throw it down here. JUNGLE BABY (8) secured running line cover here last week and when set free was able to reel them in and claim a 2m margin. With the economical trip on offer from this gate, she is in the mix. SMOKESHOW (9) powered up soon after the start here last week at the 2138 and from the front was able to see them off with 4m to spare. The second line makes the repeat a tougher ask.
SELECTIONS: DIAMOND SHOOZ (1), SHES FULLOFSPIRIT (10), JUNGLE BABY (8), SMOKESHOW (9) SUGGESTED BET: DIAMOND SHOOZ (1) to win
RACE SEVEN Backing up from Wednesday night where she was able to dictate, GOLDEN SUNSET (2) can look to again utilise her arm speed to press the issue early. Taking control here midweek, she was able to carve out a new PB with a stylish 13m victory. The gate gives her the chance to repeat. VICTREE HILL (8) will need a slice of luck at some point from this gate to sight clear air. Back in the pack two starts back and then rattling late to score, the 30m was a hurdle to high here last week with the race dictated in front by GET USED TO IT. Spotting the gaps, he can issue the challenge. ZEALOUS SPUR (5) never got warm here last week when faced with the 20m tape and finishing down the line behind GET USED TO IT. Runner-up two starts back, he has podium claims here. TOP OF THE MOMENT (4) ended his chances with an error last start when finishing down the line behind ROYAL DAN. RACE EIGHT Using the passing lane after releasing here two starts back, GEM PUNTER PETE (2) made a late raid to get within a half-neck of victory. Finding running line cover last start, he angled into space and sprinted hard to take a 2m margin. From the gate, he can issue his claim. HASTY BID (8) should strip fitter following his last start when returning from a spell. Making good metres in the closing stages after settling at the rear from a second line gate, he closed his last campaign with victory in a qualifier. With the second line options, he can throw it down. WINDY HILL WALLY (4) held on for the bronze on the grass at Warwick two starts back and then last time was making a late play when 3rd to LANAI. This looks an open contest, and he is right in the fight. ARKIN WICKED (6) was sent forward from the wide gate last start and despite the tough trip, was grinding it out in the stretch to be 2m from the dictating winner LAURIE DEE. The gate makes it tough again. SELECTIONS: GEM PUNTER PETE (2), HASTY BID (8), WINDY HILL WALLY (4), ARKIN WICKED (6) SUGGESTED BET:
