Form Analysis: Redcliffe - January 16

RACE 1 

PLAYING FOR KEEPS (1) got involved in a very fast first quarter last start and just got tired late but was entitled to when battling on well for second. She draws to get every chance in this race from gate one. 

SHEROCKSMYWORLD (3) returned nicely last start when looming into the race strongly before going down narrowly to her stablemate Wicked Beauty who was on debut. This looks a suitable race. 

ALSROKSTAR (4) performed poorly last start on return from a spell beaten 48.5 metres. He has previously shown good ability and his best efforts would be competitive in this. 

ITSALADY (5) made up some late ground last start from last in the run.

RACE 2 

MOOPS (4) was first up for the stable of Matt Elkins last start and made up good ground late in a 1.52 mile. Draws awkwardly in this race but it is only a small field so shouldn’t be too far off them. 

FRANCO MACHO (2) has been racing well. Was placed last start behind Free Thinker after racing on the pegs. He has options from the draw and looks hard to beat. 

ART JESTER (1) draws ideally in this race and has been racing well. Generally does his best racing when finding the right one to follow and he looks to get that opportunity again in this race. 

MACH ASSASSIN (5) was well beaten in a strong race last start. Can bounce back.

RACE 3

SUBTLE CHAY (5) draws to advantage over a few of his key rivals in this race. He worked hard early last start and was still able to battle away for a very good placing. 

CORNISH SMUGGLER (8) has improved his form in recent starts and looks to have found a suitable race. Can be thereabouts again. 

VERMONT (9) returned well last start when driving hard late to just miss. She gets less favours from a wide back row draw this time but still looks suited. 

ROSEANNE RUBY (6) is a brilliant gate speed mare that has drawn very awkwardly in this race. 

SELECTIONS: SUBTLE CHAY (5), CORNISH SMUGGLER (8), VERMONT (9), ROSEANNE RUBY (6)

SUGGESTED BET: SUBTLE CHAY (5) to win. 

RACE 4 

MAN OF ACTION (4) has been racing well in recent starts. He looks to have found a race where he might be able to push to the front and from there he would prove extremely hard to beat. 

THE BLUE WREN (8) draws favourably in this race to get an easy run through in the early stages. Has been racing well enough for this company. 

ROSARITO (1) has not been at his absolute best in recent times. A recent trial effort was sound enough and he is likely to secure a good run. 

SAINT LOUIS BEAT (9) has a good turn of foot when saved up for one run at them late. Looks to get that opportunity here

RACE 5

ISLA AND ADDIE (4) was dragged out of the race last start by a tiring runner, appeared to have a bit to give and nowhere to go in the concluding stages. 

MADAM WEST (5) drops significantly in grade into this race and looks well suited. She just faded late after racing on the pegs last start. 

THE GROGMOTHER (2) is a gate speed horse. Her last effort was not her best prior to going for a spell and she returns here for a new stable. 

THUNDAMENTAL (1) has drawn perfectly and should have options in the early stages. He took the trail last start and just faded late. 

SELECTIONS: ISLA AND ADDIE (4), MADAM WEST (5), THE GROGMOTHER (2), THUNDAMENTAL (1) 

SUGGESTED BET: MADAM WEST (5) to win. 

RACE 6 

ALWAYS IDLE (6) made a mistake in the early stages last start which proved costly. Can be put into the race at the right time. 

JIMMY BLING (8) has a great turn of foot which was on display last start when rounding them up from last. He draws to get a few more favours in this race likely settling closer than last start. 

EMMALEEN (3) didn’t have much luck last start when caught wide in the quickest part of the race. She is very capable and looks well graded now. 

SKYGIRL (5) ran poorly last start on return from a spell when giving ground late. She should derive benefit from that run and has good ability at her best.

RACE 7

STUDLEIGH MARK (5) took on a much stronger race last start where he was luckless forced to the rear of the field after working early. His effort to finish as close as he did was very good and he looks well suited in this race. 

STUDLEIGH ANNE (9) has taken on stronger races in recent starts and looks to be dropping back in grade in this race. Should get a good run off the speed and can be finishing off strong. 

MISSTREPO (8) didn’t have much luck last time out. She draws favourably and should get a soft run through in the early stages. 

ENGLISH DANCE (3) has gate speed and was able to lead all the way last start. He steps up in grade here.
