Race 1: North West Queensland Painting QTIS Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – DOOM CITY DRAGON 2nd – CHOMARU 3rd – WULFWIN 4th – RAPID QUALO

When Jockey S Galvin was delayed in arriving on course Stewards permitted Apprentice H Laffin to be substituted as the rider of DOOM CITY DRAGON.

NICABELLE – Slow away after beginning awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the entirety.

OLE PABLO – Shifted out abruptly at the start making contact with another runner.

WULFWIN – Bumped at the start.

BUSH LAWYER – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance Jockey D Ballard explained his mount raced four wide without cover for the entirety of the event and was under pressure from shortly after leaving the barriers and never travelled comfortably. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 2: United Petroleum Maiden Plate 1200 metres:
1st – ROCKONI 2nd – PERDANERITE 3rd – HAPPY TO BE HERE 4th – SHE’S A UNIT

HOOFBEATS – Shifted out abruptly at the start making contact with another runner.

HAPPY TO BE HERE – Bumped by another runner at the start. Raced wide without cover throughout.

Race 3: Leichardt Motel Class B Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – WILKER 2nd – PAYOLA 3rd – AKHEILOS 4th – POWER UP

AKHEILOS – Slow into stride.

PAYOLA – Refused to settle in the early stages bumping another runner passing the 900 metres.

HONEY CAT – Bumped by another runner passing the 900 metres.

WILKER – Raced wide without cover.

READY TO DAZZLE – Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Brodie & Co Benchmark 60 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – MOSSALE 2nd – SMOOTH ELEMENT 3rd – WORLD OF PAIN 4th – TUNING

WORLD OF PAIN – Shifted out abruptly at the start making heavy contact with another runner.

MOSSALE – Bumped heavily at the start. On return to the enclosure the gelding was found to have blood present in one nostril. A subsequent review of the start revealed the inside barrier gate to have bounced back striking the gelding on the nose. On veterinary inspection a small laceration was found on the inside of the gelding’s nose.

MURRUMBIDGEE – When questioned regarding the poor performance of the gelding Jockey D Ballard could offer no explanation. Jockey Ballard explained after being in a favourable position in the early stages he placed his mount under pressure from the 600 metres however it commenced to weaken and failed to respond to his riding thereafter. Upon review of the start it was found the barrier gates sprung back striking the gelding however the gelding was not hampered as a consequence. Trainer Mrs D Ballard advised Stewards the gelding had been treated for a cough in the week prior. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and the gelding’s respiratory sounds were clear.


Race 5: Sparrow Harrison Snr Memorial Benchmark 45 Handicap 1400 metres:
1st – LARABEE 2nd – SHIMAZU 3rd – OMEGA 4th – HOUSE RULES

THE HANKINATOR was a late scratching at 4.24pm after the gelding refused to proceed to the barriers. When correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets placed on THE HANKINATOR be refunded in full and all other successful bets made on the race prior to 4.24pm be subject to the following deductions of 20c win and 21c place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Ms M Young was advised the gelding would be required to successfully complete a trial under as close to race day conditions as possible.

SPLASH OUT – Began awkwardly with its head in the air.

STAR ODYSSEY – Slow into stride.

DASHING DUB – Bumped at the start.

HOUSE RULES – Bumped at the start.
