SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Ipswich 13.5.16 – Race 8: R. McMahon was fined $200 for failing to fulfil his engagement on BROOKTON ICE.

Race 1: GREEN OPTIONS RACING QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1050M

The start of this race was delayed when LA DOLCE VITA was reluctant to proceed to the barriers before barrier staff rendered assistance.

SECRET SAGA – Slow into stride. Held up in the early stages of the straight before shifting out near the 200m.

BLUE DESERT MOON – Apprentice J. Orman advised stewards that it was his intention to go forward, however the filly failed to muster sufficient speed to clear other runners and as a result was left racing three wide without cover. He added that the horse travelled well throughout until placed under pressure approaching the 400m where it failed to respond and proved very disappointing. Trainer T. Sears was unable to offer any explanation for the filly’s performance other than it endured a tough run. He advised that he would be recommending to connections that the filly be sent for an immediate spell. Mr Sears undertook to report to stewards if any abnormalities become apparent, after which time stewards will decide if any further action needs to be taken. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer reports horse will continue its prep, but he will be removing the tongue tie, and seeking a weaker class race for the the future.

DRAM OF RED – Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden in a forward position with cover if circumstances permit. The horse settled in a three wide position midfield. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that the gelding would be ineligible to start for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.

AUSSIE JACK – Inconvenienced approaching the 200m.

ALL TROOPS – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Steadied when crowded slightly approaching the first turn. Apprentice S. Eilbeck reported that the gelding hung out throughout the event.

EMPEROR MAXIMILIAN – Slow into stride.

Race 2: CRISCON COMMERCIAL + INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION CLASS 6 PLATE – 1110M

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer B. Smith for the late declaration of P. Hammersley as the rider of SONY LEGEND.

I AM BOSS – Hung out rounding the home turn. Lost the off fore plate in running.

UPSTART PRIDE – Slow to begin.

LADY JETSETTER – Apprentice S. Fawke said that he had to make use of the mare in the early stages, however when taken on by FREEZE THE CHARGES, the mare appeared to resent racing inside other runners. He was of the view that when he placed the mare under pressure in the straight, it weakened badly and was most disappointing. He added that the early quick tempo may have had a detrimental effect on the horse’s finishing effort. Trainer L. Birchley advised that the horse would now be sent for an immediate spell.

SONY LEGEND – When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer B. Smith stated that at its previous start the gelding met with some difficulty at a crucial stage of the race and was not that disappointing, beaten only 4 lengths.

SAMMI JAIN – Apprentice C. Dell lost the use of his offside rein inside the final 200m.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.

Race 3: LED SUPER SCREENS BM85 H’CAP – 1350M

WINNING RUPERT – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the straight.

ENDLESS DAYS – Raced three wide without cover.

EARTH – Slow into stride.

TIYATROLANI – Began awkwardly. Raced tight to the inside of DREAMS APLENTY for a short distance after the 800m. Ms T. Harrison explained that the intention had been to hold the lead, as has been the horse’s usual practice She said that prior to the race TIYATROLANI appeared more agitated than it has been in the past, however began well and showed good early speed. She said approaching the first turn DREAMS APLENTY raced up alongside and gained an advantage on her and then making the first turn TIYATROLANI raced in restricted room to the inside of DREAMS APLENTY. Ms Harrison said that in her opinion the filly was not comfortable in this position and for this reason she elected to take a sit and allow DREAMS APLENTY to cross. She said when racing behind that horse her mount travelled well, however on straightening, when clear running presented itself, the filly did not quicken as she would have liked and despite having every opportunity did not respond and in her opinion was very disappointing.

Race 6: SINGAPORE TURF CLUB TROPHY (MEMBERS’ HANDICAP) – 1600M

SHOTOVER RIVER – Raced three wide.

ALLKNIGHT SAINT – Inconvenienced near the 600m. R. McMahon will be interviewed regarding his use of the whip prior to the 100m.

BRETTAN – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages.

CANTBUYBETTER – Raced four wide in the early stages before eventually obtaining cover near the 800m.

Race 7: UBET BTC CUP – 1200M

After being boxed, ARTLEE lunged at the front gates, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Whilst this was occurring, DELECTATION got a hind leg up on the barrier partition, was removed from its stall, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding M. Cahill being dislodged from ARTLEE just past the winning post. Evidence was taken from J. Collett (DELECTATION), P. King (TWO BLUE), G. Colless (MALAGUERRA) and B. Shinn (DOTHRAKI). As M. Cahill had been transported to hospital for observation, after hearing the evidence of the riders, the matter was adjourned to allow M. Cahill the opportunity to give evidence and view the video of the incident.

MACKINTOSH – Trainer C. Waller advised that although the gelding led at its last start, from barrier 4 today the intention is to race on the speed but to try to obtain cover. The horse was unable to obtain cover and led.

ESCHIELE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

BRAZEN – Trainer D. Vandyke advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden in a rearward position. Raced in a rearward postion but wide, improved from the 800m. Tightened approaching the winning post on the first occasion. An inquiry will be opened. Raced three wide.
