GENERAL
Stewards allowed the following overweights:

Jockey Ryan Maloney was fined $500 pursuant to AR190(3) for failing to meet his riding weight obligations on ROSE OF SEBRING (Race 1), and MR ENCORE (Race 5).
 
Race 1: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000 metres
 
MISHANI FRAUDSTER – Raced in restricted room between the 300m and 200m.
 
DYNAMIC DUO – Crowded on jumping. Raced three wide from the 800m.
 
ELEGIST – Trainer M. Currie was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Held up and unable to secure clear running from the 450m until the 150m.
 
THE BILLIONAIRE – Pulled hard in the middle stages. Raced three wide.
 
SWEET MARGOT MAY – Laid inwards near the 200m.
 
ZUMA CALIFORNIA – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
 
 
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE OPEN Handicap 1835 metres
 
LOVE TAP – Near the 1300m, had to be restrained after racing up on to the heels of OCEAN TREATY.
 
BOTTEGA – Pulled hard in the middle stages
 
COULDN’T REFUSE – Between the 250m and 150m, raced in restricted room between LOVE TAP, which laid out and BARTOLOMEU DIAS which laid in.
 
OCEAN TREATY (NZ) – Raced three wide and pulled hard in the early stages.
 
HE’S GOT POWER (NZ) – Raced four wide in the early stages. Underwent a post race veterinary examination after being eased down in the straight. The veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
Race 3:GRANT BURGE WINE DINNER 31 AUGUST BENCHMARK 72
Handicap 1835 metres

FESTIVAL PRINCE – Raced three wide for a short distance when racing keenly between the 1000m and the 800m.
 
ZAWADI (NZ) – Slow to begin. Pulled hard in the middle stages. Laid inwards in the straight.
 
BECANDLENI – After becoming fractious in the mounting enclosure, BECANDLENI underwent a veterinary inspection on arrival at the barriers and was passed fit to run.
 
BLACKLOG (NZ) – Raced tightly inside of ZAWADI for a short distance approaching the 1600m.
 
VENDIDIT – Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400m and the 300m.
 
RED LIGHT ROXANNE – Got its head when racing keenly near the 1600m.
 
THIS IS SO – Laid out under pressure in the straight
 
MOKTAFFY – Raced tightly inside of ZAWADI for a short distance approaching the 1600m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and the 150m.
 
EVITA LA VIE – Trainer C. Meagher advised of a change of tactics that the mare will be ridden midfield with cover if circumstances permit. EVITA LA VIE settled at the rear of the field. Carried wider on the track between the 300m and the 100m.
 
GO DARCY (NZ) – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
 
 
Race 4:SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 85 Handicap
1200 metres
 
TEARS OF LOVE – Hampered near the 150m.
 
GENZAI THE WOLF – Jockey G. Cartwright was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip seven (7) times prior to the 100m, two (2) more than permitted.
 
DUSTY TYCOON – Bumped near the 150m.
 
SMART IMAGE – Laid out making the turn into the straight.
 
 
Race 5: MOUNT FRANKLIN 3-Y-O Plate 1200 metres
 
PRINCE SHALAA – Dipped on jumping.
 
MR ENCORE – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
HULKAMANIA – Buffeted on jumping
 
MASTER SHOWMAN – At the 300m, shifted out around the heels of FIRE LOVE.
 
UNCOMMON VALOUR – Lost ground and became unbalanced when crowded and bumped on jumping.
 
RUBUNKAR – Connections advised that the gelding to settle in the second half of the field. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
EVEN NOW – Jumped awkwardly inwards bumping HULKAMANIA.

LI’L MISSHONKYTONK – Connections advised that the filly will be ridden on pace. Ridden accordingly. Was inconvenienced and carried outwards off its rightful running near the 300m when MASTER SHOWMAN shifted out around the heels of FIRE LOVE when not insufficiently clear of LI’L MISS HONKYTONK resulting in that runner losing its rightful running. Jockey B. Loy was charged pursuant to a charge of careless riding AR131(a) and suspended for nine (9) days, commencing the 5th of September and ending on the 13th of September, being clear to ride on the 14th of September. Jockey B. Loy was advised of his right to internal review.
 
 
Race 6:BRC MEMBERSHIP 2022-23 Fillies and Mares Class 3
Handicap 1400 metres
 
 
LITTLE MIX – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. Held up between the 500m and the 350m.
 
VACCINE – Bumped on jumping. Eased when racing tight shortly after the start.
 
MORIOKA – Jumped away awkwardly. Near the 700m had to be eased after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of RUSSIAN WARRIOR. Hampered approaching the 200m when VACCINE shifted out. Jockey B. Thompson was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting out abruptly at the 200m.
 
MAHIA (NZ) – Raced three wide throughout. Momentarily steadied near the 250m when VACCINE shifted out. 

RUSSIAN WARRIOR – Rider S. Cormack reported that his saddle slipped back in running. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
 
WHISTLE HOFF – Bumped on jumping.
 
MEXICAN STAR – Hampered approaching the 200m when VACCINE shifted out.
 
Race 7: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY SEPTEMBER No Metro Wins Handicap 1200 metres
 
MUIRON – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
PIVOTAL MOTION – Had to be eased off the heels of the tiring MUIRON near the 250m.
 
ISIS CARMELLA – Trainer K. Miller was fined $100 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers.
 
TARA JASMINE – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the mares’ improved performance, trainer J. Shelton advised that following her previous run, it appeared she could not run out the journey, so they elected to bring her back in distance and will continue to restrict her to races no longer than 1400m.
 
BEAN DANCING – When racing keenly, had to be restrained approaching the 700m after racing onto the heels of PIVOTAL MOTION.
 
JUBAI PRIDE – Jumped away awkwardly and steadied off the heels of PIVOTAL MOTION shortly after the start. Bumped approaching the 100m.
 
ADONISEA – Bumped approaching the 100m. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
Race 8:SKY RACING Class 6 Plate 1000 metres
 
PERIGORD – Momentarily crowded for racing room passing the 600m.
 
CECIL STREET LAD – Restless in the barriers. Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
IT’S ME – Raced keenly middle stages and laid in over the final 200m.
 
 
Race 9:GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Colts, Geldings and Entires Class
3 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards reviewed the official photo finish, and after consultation with the raceday judges, and the placings were amended to:

-        2nd 7. PENTITO
-        3rd 1. HIGHLIGHTS
-        4th  5. HATCHET
 
 
MINTO’S PARADISE – Jockey N. Callow reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action and after being initially tested he elected to not fully test his mount over the concluding stages.
 
PENTITO – Slow to begin. Laid inward under pressure in the home straight.
 
AVENUE OF STARS – Had to have its tongue tie refitted on arrival to the barriers. When racing keenly got its head up and shifted out near the 1200m. Raced three wide with no cover.
 
RARI – Jumped away awkwardly making contact with TORBRECK.
 
INVICTUS FELIX – Stewards acceded a request from trainer N. Mayfield-Smith for the gelding to race without a nasal strip.
 
TORBRECK – Jumped away awkwardly bumping with RARI.
 
MT MORT SHARK (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid inwards placing its rider at a disadvantage from the 400m until the 100m.
