General: ALL IN SYNC was declared a late scratching at 11:45am when no rider was available. Race 1: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1200 Metres LAYLA’S LAD – When asked to comment on the performance rider R Faehr stated the gelding, in his opinion, did not appreciate todays firm track and may not have backed up from its most recent start at Eidsvold on Saturday 3rd October. A post-race veterinary examination of LAYLA’S LAD revealed no abnormalities. MAC’S GAL – Slow to begin.TURBO TEDDY – Made the home-turn awkwardly and shifted wider when rider H Phillips offside rein became entangled in gelding’s mane for a short time.TEDDER EXPRESS – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Taken wider round the home-turn.WARNERS LANDING – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Race 2: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 1000 Metres CRAIGLEA KARLY - Examined by club Veterinary surgeon during preliminary and declared a late scratching at 2:15pm when found to be lame in the near hind leg. On declaration of correct weight all bets on CRAIGLEA KARLY were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 17 cents win and 15 cents place to apply on face value of all winning bets. SP’s are not subject to deductions. Trainer G Gatti was advised CRAIGLEA KARLY would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. WINDQUEST – Jumped out at the start and made heavy contact with MIA SINGA. MIA SINGA – Bumped heavily on jumping. QUEENOFMAINSTREET – Raced three wide without cover throughout. HARALDIGO – Slow to begin. Race 3: MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres SALEX SPIRIT - Declared a late scratching at 3:01pm when the gelding was unable to be loaded into the barriers. On declaration of correct weight all bets on SALEX SPIRIT were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 6 cents win and 7 cents place to apply to apply on face value of all winning bets. SP’s are subject to deductions. Trainer G Parker was advised SALEX SPIRIT would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. SEARCH AND DESTROY – Jumped out at the start hampering A TUNNAH CLASS. Bumped rounding the home-turn. On return to the enclosure it was noted the gelding had cast the off hind plate and had also dislodged the tongue tie during the event. TWOKATS – Taken wider rounding the home-turn. A TUNNAH CLASS – As had not started following an extended break was examined prior to the event by club Veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Hampered on jumping when bumped by SEARCH AND DESTROY. CRAIGLEA CINDY – Slow to begin. Shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running rounding the home-turn and bumped SEARCH AND DESTROY. Rider Adam Spinks was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Race 4: OPEN HDCP 1000 Metres THE MECHANIC – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers then slow to begin. WALSHIE – Examined by club Veterinary surgeon on arrival at the barriers and cleared to start. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Rider R Faehr was reprimanded for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. VICEMAN – Rider H Phillips was reprimanded for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted. MACHU PICCHU – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 5: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1400 Metres TOM’S STAR – After being slow to begin was unable to muster early speed and tailed the field throughout to be beaten excess of 49 lengths. Rider L McCoy could offer no tangible explanation and a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative for trainer D Rideout was advised TOMS STAR would require to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
