SUPPLEMENTARY:

From Sunshine Coast 27 May 2016:
Race 7 - Jockey V Johnston was fined $200 for using her whip in an excessive manner prior to the 100m on PEPPA JELLY.

Race 1: Coolangatta hotel Ratings Band 0-62 H’cap – 900m
1st – Sorority Sister 2nd – Captain Tango 3rd – Aquator 4th – Tressles

Gold Coast Turf Club employees identified a burst water main at the back of the 900m chute at approximately 10:00am. Upon inspecting the area Stewards were concerned that it was unsuitable for racing and subsequently shortened the distance of the event from 900m to approximately 850m acting under the provisions of AR8(q)(ii).

App. B-R Derbyshire was only able to claim 1kg of her 2kg claim. As no other suitable replacement was available, App. Derbyshire was allowed to fulfil her engagement. App. Derbyshire was fined the sum of $100.

SORORITY SISTER - Slow to begin.

SNUGGLE POT - Slow to begin. Shortly after the start steadied when tightened for room. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.

DEFIES GRAVITY - Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Raced greenly throughout. Inconvenienced near the 150m.

TRESSLES - Raced wide throughout.

CAPTAIN TANGO - Held up rounding the home turn and passing the 250m steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of POSITIVE QUEST.

AQUATOR - Held up in the early stages of the home straight and inclined to lay in for the majority of the home straight.

MEDIA MAID – Held up for clear running between the 300 and 150m when awkwardly placed at the heels of POSITIVE QUEST.

DESTIVA - Bumped by MEDIA MAID near the 150m and became unbalanced.

Race 2: Draculas QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Rich Affair 2nd – Balabina 3rd – Stole the Show 4th – Mr Crimson Lad

The start was delayed when STOLE THE SHOW had to be resaddled behind the barriers.

The start was further delayed when FREE PRESS proved difficult to load. Stable representative Mrs C Munce was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s pre-race manners.

QUITE MAGICAL - Began awkwardly.

SUGAR RAY RED - Raced greenly in the early stages and near the 1000m shifted in and bumped BALABINA and as a consequence then became unbalanced and continued to race greenly for the majority of the event.

BALABINA - Bumped by SUGAR RAY RED passing the 1000m. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn and then raced greenly in the home straight.

FREE PRESS - Raced greenly during the early stages. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

PERILOUS LOVE - Raced wide throughout.

REMI ROCKS - Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.

RICH AFFAIR - Raced greenly in the home straight.

STOLE THE SHOW – Jockey J Morris reported that his saddle shifted during the event.

Jockey J Morris (STOLE THE SHOW) was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Race 3: The Avenue BenchMark 80 H’cap – 2200m
1st – Tap This 2nd – Coastal Gem 3rd – Legsman 4th – Iniquity

COASTAL GEM - Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the early stages before being allowed to stride forward leaving the 1600m to obtain the lead near the 1200m. After being crossed by KINGSTON TIME passing the 600m was then held up upon straightening and again between the 250m and 200m.

MULLET MAN - Near the 1500m steadied from heels.

ALL CLEAR - Over-raced rounding the turn near the 1500m. Leaving the 400m had to shift out across the heels of COASTAL GEM to improve. Bumped by COASTAL GEM leaving the 200m on a number of occasions. Inconvenienced over the concluding stages when placed in restricted room.

TAP THIS - After COASTAL GEM had crossed to the lead, TAP THIS attempted to shift off the fence and improve, however, LEGSMAN improved forward at the same time resulting in TAP THIS having to be steadied from the heels of COASTAL GEM leaving the 1100m.

KINGSTON TIME - Raced 3 wide from the 900m.

Jockey L Rolls (TAP THIS) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

After the running of Race 3, the track was upgraded to a Good 3.

Race 4: The Envy Hotel Maiden H’cap – 1400m
1st – Scoutabout 2nd – Leap of Legend 3rd – American Diva 4th – Highdini

The start was delayed when WHAT’S THAT proved difficult to load.

WHAT’S THAT - Slow to begin.

LEAP OF LEGEND - Hampered on jumping away by COUNTING CARDS which shifted in. Held up rounding the home turn.

COUNTING CARDS - Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

SLIOCH – Hampered at the start.

STORMY LEO - Over-raced during the early stages.

JACK’S POINT - Over-raced during the early stages.

DRUMMER’S CHOICE - Brushed the running rail near the 1150m. Near 250m steadied when tightened for room by LEAP OF LEGEND which shifted in marginally.

YOU BETTER NOT - Raced wide throughout.

SPURTING COLOURS - Raced wide throughout. When questioned as to the tactics adopted today, Jockey V Johnston stated that she was given no specific instructions. Jockey Johnston noted that she rode the filly at its last start where after beginning well, she elected to press forward. Jockey Johnston stated that today the filly began only fairly and as a consequence she attempted to obtain a mid-field position with cover.

LILY GISELLE - Raced wide throughout.

AMERICAN DIVA - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

MOONLIGHT DIAMOND - Held up upon straightening and again near the 250m when disappointed for a run.

KAIZARI – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, App. B Ainsworth stated that she was instructed to obtain a mid-handy position. App. Ainsworth added that after beginning well the gelding found itself in the lead and bearing in mind the moderate tempo, she was content to remain in that position.

Race 5: Boardwalk Tavern Class 6 Plate – 1100m
1st – Apple Thief 2nd – State of Wealth 3rd – Brigadoon Legend 4th – Divine Service

DIVINE SERVICE - Fractious in the barriers.

APPLE THIEF - Began awkwardly.

SPIRIT OF THE DAWN - Over-raced during the middle stages. Held up passing the 200m. Over the concluding stages had to be eased from the heels of STATE OF WEALTH.

FELL FROM HEAVEN - Over-raced during the middle stages.

HASHTAG NOIDEA – Jockey T Treichel reported that he was obliged to stop riding his mount over the concluding stages when it was inclined to lay in and away from BRIGADOON LEGEND. Nonetheless Jockey Treichel was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish.

Race 6: Emerald lakes Golf Class 3 Plate – 1200m
1st – Umgeni 2nd – Go on Red 3rd – Forbidden Kisses 4th – Cliveden House

As Jockey Matthew Palmer was indisposed through illness, he was replaced on UMGENI by Jockey J Morris.

The start was delayed when UMGENI proved difficult to load.

FORBIDDEN KISSES - Slow to begin. Passing the 500m improved onto heels, steadied.

LIPREAD - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

NAME AND SHAME - Raced wide throughout.

UMGENI - Over-raced during the early and middle stages.

GOORNONG GIRL - Held up during the early stages of the home straight.


Race 7: Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Mysticism 2nd – Cartier Rock 3rd – Coomera 4th – Water Boy

The start was delayed when ABSEIL kicked out in the barriers and got its near hind leg caught. After being examined by the veterinary surgeon ABSEIL was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 3:50pm. All monies invested on ABSEIL were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 3:50pm:

LAREBIL - Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously during the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 500m inconvenienced by COOL WATER which shifted out to improve.

RUNAWAY RULER - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

GRANDE GLORY - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

LANIKAI MISS - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MISS GRANGER - Leaving 100m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of COOMERA which shifted out marginally.


Race 8: Amos Nay Memorial Class 1 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Really Sure 2nd – Afton Prince 3rd – Super Force 4th – Holy Harry

REALLY SURE - Leaving the 1600m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of AWESOME MORE.

SLALOM - Near the 1500m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of REALLY SURE. Inclined to lay in rounding the home turn and for the majority of the home straight.

RUM ‘N’ SONG - Near the 1500m steadied when tightened for room between MISHANI SCOUT and SLALOM which shifted in.

AFTON PRINCE - Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn.

HOLY HARRY - Held up rounding the home turn and again between the 250m and 100m. Jockey R Fradd reported that it was his intention to take up a handy position however bearing in mind the strong early tempo he was content to allow the gelding to travel comfortably without being pressured which resulted in it settling further back in the field than anticipated. Jockey Fradd noted that the gelding had failed to finish the race off at its previous start when ridden along early to obtain a forward position.

MISHANI SCOUT – Upon returning to scale, App. B Ainsworth reported that her intention was to obtain a position closer to the speed, however, the gelding was slow to muster speed in the early stages despite her efforts and as a consequence settled further back in the field than anticipated. App. Ainsworth noted that the gelding was back in distance today and subsequently raced dour. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.

CHANGE OF LUCK – When questioned as to the tactics adopted today, particularly if there was an opportunity to obtain a trailing position behind WALWA passing the 1400m, App. S Fawke stated that he had been specifically instructed to allow the gelding to roll forward. App. Fawke conceded that he should have restrained the gelding to obtain cover behind WALWA but was reluctant to do so given the instructions he had been issued.

Jockey B Looker (AFTON PRINCE) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Jockey L Rolls (SUPER FORCE) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
