Race 1 SPRING CARNIVAL Maiden Plate 850M
IQELA – Slow to begin.
SALEX SPIRIT – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Apprentice I Teh stated that the gelding failed to travel in the early stages. However, when placed under pressure approaching the 600m, Jockey Teh stated that her mount responded to her riding and finished off in a positive manner.
CHLOE KINKY TOES – Raced wide without cover throughout the early and middle stages.
MORNING TOUCH – Slow into stride. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Hung out severely rounding the home turn and on entering the straight, placing the rider at a disadvantage. Trainer D Schultz was advised that the mare will be required to trial tractably prior to a future race start.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards were notified that the Photo Finish Camera had failed to activate during the race. Acting upon AR214(4), Stewards were not satisfied that the judge had made an error in placing the runners across the line, and as such declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers 3-7-5-1. Following the running of Race 1, the photo finish equipment was re-tested.

Race 2 XXXX DRY Class B Handicap 850M
OYASHIO – Stewards acceded to a request from licensed trainer C Attard for the gelding to race in blinkers as he had only packed a blinker/pacifier combination and was subsequently fined $100.
BETTYGEE(NZ) – Raced wide without cover.
SUPER LEON(NZ) – Raced wide without cover. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
PERFECT SAGA – Slow into stride.

BAUHINIA DRUM – Knuckled on jumping and as a result was slow into stride.
CIMARRON KID – Raced wide without cover. Apprentice M Castle stated that in her opinion the gelding resented the kick back from the sand track as a result, put her at a disadvantage. Ran wide entering the home straight.

Race 3 MIRIAMVALE PLANT HIRE BENCHMARK 45 Handicap (BM45) 1194M
LORD LAURIE – Approaching the 750m, became awkward in its stride and was subsequently pulled out of the race. Following the running of the event, a post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had suffered a catastrophic injury to the off fore shoulder and was humanly euthanised by the veterinary surgeon. Stewards ordered that a post-mortem sample was to be taken.
MAKE ME RICH WITCH – Jumped away awkwardly.
DOLCI – Raced wide throughout.
EMMY’S OUR GIRL – A post-race veterinary examination showed that the mare had suffered a laceration to the lower lip.

Race 5 GLADSTONE CUP DECEMBER 19TH BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (BM60) 1517M
UPPER DELIGHT – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Trainer Representative G Wehlow was of the belief that UPPER DELIGHT may not handle the sand surface. Jockey J Missen also noted that his mount may not have handled the sand track. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
LIBERTY’S GIFT – Apprentice S Stephan reported that her mount overraced in the early and middle stages and failed to settle. Approaching the 600m, the mare weakened noticeably and ran to the line in a disappointing manner.
