Prior to the declaration of correct weight and after viewing the patrol footage, a protest was lodged by A Mallyon, rider of fourth placegetter ISLA’S DAY, against third past the post MACQUARIE STAR (K Wilson-Taylor) alleging interference near the 400 metres. After viewing the available footage and taking evidence from both parties, Stewards found that at that point of the race ISLA’S DAY was crowded for room and had to be steadied when MACQUARIE STAR shifted out. Bearing in mind where the incident took place, the way in which both horses finished the race off and the ¾ length margin at the finish, Stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight declared on the semaphored placings.
