QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT IPSWICH TURF CLUB THURSDAY 15th DECEMBER 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4, GOOD 3 after Race 3 RAIL – 6 Metres PENETROMETER – 5.32 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R HItchenerStewards – K Daly, J Cremin, C FedrickClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – C BamfordVeterinarian – Dr G CavanaghSwab Attendants – R Burchman, K KilpatrickStarter – C Wallace GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting- Race 2 - CENTRESTONE- J Orman +1/2kg Race 5 - CAPITAL GIRL- R Wiggins +1kg Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB Class 4 Handicap 1690 metres CONFUSION – When asked to comment on the performance rider S Thornton advised the horse travelled comfortably during the race, however when placed under pressure from the 500m failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing, adding CONFUSION may not have appreciated today’s prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. TOLKOWSKY – Began awkwardly. VALLEY OF DREAMS – Over-raced in the middle stages when leading the event. Race 2: THANKS TONY CLEMENTS FROM ITC Maiden Handicap 1525 metres THRAX - Inconvenienced and taken wider on the track passing the 1400m. STAC POLLAIDH – Hampered passing the 1400m. CENTRESTONE – Rider J Orman momentarily unbalanced at the start after making heavy contact with the nearside barrier partition. From the wide barrier restrained across heels shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. TOPTIMISTIC – Eased out of the race passing the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer M J Dunn was advised TOPTIMISTIC would require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG test, and must also trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. TIGER FOR LIFE – After being crossed by TOPTIMISTIC passing the 1400m, commenced to over-race keenly at heels and was obliged to shift out abruptly resulting in STAC POLLAIDH being hampered and THRAX being inconvenienced and taken wider on the track. GOLD INVEST – Slow to begin, and as a consequence settled further back in the field than anticipated. Race 3: TAB Fillies and Mares Class 1 Plate 1525 metres ASTROPHYSICS – At the request of the rider, underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Eased out of the race by its rider near the 900m and finished tailed off. An initial post-race veterinary examination immediately after the race revealednolameness, however after ASTROPHYSICS had cooled down a subsequent veterinary examination revealed some lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer S Sixtus was advisedASTROPHYSICS would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start. CHICA BONITA – After being loaded into the barriers, broke through, was quickly restrained by its rider, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. HARBELLE – Blundered behind on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider M Harley could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, other than being caught wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. KASEAR – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. Rider W Peel was of the opinion KASEAR may not appreciated the prevailing track conditions. SHADIE MILLY – Approaching the winning post had to be eased to avoid the heels of KASEAR which shifted in under pressure. W Peel, rider of KASEAR, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. SHE'S ENUFF – Change of tactics, to be ridden midfield with cover if circumstances permit. Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn. VANCITY – Slow to begin. Following this event, the track was upgraded to a Good 3. Race 4: SIRROMET Class 3 Plate 1200 metres FIELD REGIMENT – Slow to muster speed at the start. NIC ME SOME – Jumped in at the start. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event when racing outside the leader. ASCOT EXPRESS – Crowded at the start when NIC ME SOME jumped in.Hung out rounding the home turn. GINGER ROCK – Rider R Fradd reported the horse did not appreciate today’s firmer track conditions. Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres SWAMP VIXEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. BARISTASISTA – Raced keenly for some distance leaving the 900m. AIN'T SHE LOVELY – Hung out under pressure in the home straight. CAPITAL GIRL – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 700m. Following the event trainer W Hulbert reported the horse jarred up slightly on today’s firmer track surface. LA PETITE MISSILE – At the request of trainer A Boyd, the horse was declared a late scratching at 3:35pm due to the track upgrade to a Good 3. Race 6: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS OPEN Handicap 1200 metres SEA RAIDER – Raced wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 900m. GOGOL - Rider B Thornton was of the opinion GOGOL did not appreciate the firmer track conditions today. PRIMAL SCREAM – Began awkwardly. GETYOURGREYON – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. IRING – Raced keenly in the middle stages.Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn until a point near the 150m. MISS DEVINE - At the request of Co-trainer A Simpson, the horse was declared a late scratching at 3:48pm due to the track upgrade to a Good 3. Race 7: DJ TRACKSIDE JANUARY Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Plate 1525 metres CLEARY ADONIS - From the wide barrier restrained across heels shortly after the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. CRITICAL THINKER – Bumped at the start. LAST ROYAL – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority of the event. ROWLETT – Jumped out at the start and bumped CRITICAL THINKER. M Wishart, rider of ROWLETT, was reprimanded under AR132(5) for use of the whip 16 times in totality during the event. SISYPHEAN – Buffeted between runners a short distance after the start. VANCOUVER RIVER - As the gelding had not raced in a period exceeding 12 months, it was examined by the Veterinary surgeon prior to the event and passed suitable to race. WESTERN HALO – Caught wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader from the 900m. Bumped near the 400m and put in an awkward stride.A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer’s representative Mr D Mayfield-Smith was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start. WHISTLING SPIRIT – Held up for clear running between the 500m and the 200m. ARTIE'S DREAMTIME – Began awkwardly.
