Wallace Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 800 metres HARD STRIDE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. MOUNT HOREB – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination as the gelding had not raced in an extended period of time, and cleared to start. ORSETTO – Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. EVER BELLA – Slow to begin. Near the 300m obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of ORSETTO, which laid out under pressure. DEECE SCENT KISS – Began awkwardly. Race 2: TAB Class 6 Plate 1100 metres WOLFF BOSS – Apprentice J. Molloy was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip six times prior to the 100m, being one more than permitted. ZUMIKON – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. When tiring and placed under pressure, shifted in abruptly approaching the 100m and proved difficult to ride. Jockey W. Peel could offer no explanation for the geldings disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. FRISCO'S IMAGE – Bumped on jumping. SPENDING MY TIME – Began very awkwardly throwing its head in the air. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Adams was of the view that the gelding may have resented the crossover noseband. Trainer P. Nolan Jnr advised Stewards that it was his likely intention to remove this gear before racing again. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. BRAVE ENOUGH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 3: SIRROMET Maiden Plate 2150 metres Start was delayed when THINK D’ORO was reluctant to proceed to the barriers, this race was broadcast on Sky 2. HUSH PUPPY – Trainer K. Afford was advised that a warning will be placed on gelding for its poor performance. Slow to begin. Jockey H. Richardson dropped her whip near the 500m. MASTER OF MENACE (NZ) – Slow to begin. THE WOLVERINE – Slow to begin. THRAX – Slow to begin. RUFUS WINRIGHT – Cast a hind plate prior to entering the enclosure and permission was granted for the gelding to race bare behind. THINK D'ORO – Trainer M. Morrison was advised that a warning on the gelding’s pre race manners after it proved difficult to proceed to the gates and delayed the start. Began awkwardly. GAME STAR – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 2000m when DUCHESS BREE shifted in. Raced keenly during the middle stages. When weakening near the 300m, put in an awkward stride. IS THAT YOU ETHEL – Approaching the 100m, when placed under pressure, put in an awkward stride. Race 4: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2150 metres OSTERMEIER – Restrained from a wide barrier to a rearward position. Improved three wide passing the 1200m and raced wide for the remainder. BY THE LAW – Began awkwardly. TEA LEAVES – Jockey K. Zechner reported that he was of the opinion that the gelding over raced in the early stages which may have had a detrimental effect on its performance, nevertheless he was disappointed in the geldings effort. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer M. Labahn was asked to report back to Stewards anything which may have affected the geldings performance in the ensuing days. LUCAMOUR – As the gelding raced on Wednesday the 4th of January, a pre race veterinary examination was conducted, and LUCAMOUR was passed fit to race. LUCAMOUR trailed the field and was under pressure passing the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed bilateral forelimb lameness. Trainer C. Zintilis was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Race 5: BRAD MADSEN MEMORIAL Class 2 Plate 1500 metres BULL DIMPLE RUM – Slow to begin. BULLET HERO – Jockey D. Peisley commented that the gelding was inclined to lay in throughout and proved very disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer M. Wilson was advised that the gelding will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. KOBESTAR – Laid in throughout. Apprentice J. Molloy when asked to comment on the geldings performance said it was very disappointing and the horse was inclined to lay in throughout, and proved difficult to ride. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that the gelding will be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. GUNMETAL GIRL (NZ) – Held up on heels leaving the 600m. SUMNAMILLA – Approaching the 100m, when weakening, obliged to steady from the heels of GUNMETAL GIRL, which shifted out. Jockey A. Allen was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Jockey L. Dittman, when asked to comment on the mare’s performance said she raced flat and he was disappointed in the performance. Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith advised that it was his likely intention to send the mare for a spell. SHADIE MILLY – Slow to begin. Lost right hind plate in running. Stewards will follow up with trainer V. Venkaya in the coming days regarding the improved performance of the mare. Race 6: DJ TRACKSIDE 14 JANUARY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres VODKA MARTINI – Began awkwardly, shifted out bumping heavily with EVANESCENT. App. J. Molloy lost the use of his near side iron during this incident placing him at a disadvantage for a short distance before regathering the use of his iron. SUNSET SOIREE – Began awkwardly and as a result lost ground. TRES REDOUTE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. When over racing, leaving the 900m was obliged to steady from the heels of DEB’S ELLIE when the pace steadied. EVANESCENT - Heavily bumped and buffeted between runners, then blundered and lost significant ground, trailing the field at a distance throughout. RUSSIAN PINS – Began awkwardly, shifted in and was bumped heavily becoming unbalanced. Race 7: IEEC OPEN EVENING 2 FEBRUARY BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres AMERICANA MAGIC – Leaving the 600m became awkwardly placed on heels and momentarily steadied. SILVER GALAXY – Raced wide throughout. A post race examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps. UNCLE BUD – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. BADGERS NUTS (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. BULSARA – As S. Cormack was indisposed, replaced by T. Brooker. Leaving the 900m, had to be steadied from heels when restraining for cover. OREGON – Slow to begin.
