Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey N. Day, the rider of ELJAY ATOM which finished 2nd, against WE FOUND IT (Jockey J. Felix) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final stages. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official video films and taking into account their own observations, stewards established that inside the final 30 metres WE FOUND IT shifted out under riding and bumped ELJAY ATOM, carrying that runner wider. Bearing in mind the manner in which both horses ran to the finish, and the margin of a nose between them at the finish, stewards were comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred EJAY ATOM would have finished ahead of WE FOUND IT. Accordingly, the protest was upheld and the placings amended as follows: 1st ELJAY ATOM, 2nd WE FOUND IT, 3rd CYCLONE KAN.
EVENTIDE - Buffeted between runners at the start.
ELJAY ATOM - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
