Race 1: QTIS Benchmark 60 Handicap 1450 metres:
1st – WILL’S CHOICE 2nd – MR PEPPERS 3rd – REQUIREMENT 4th – ROMANTICIZE

REQUIREMENT – When no other rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey J Esser to ride the gelding 1kg over its declared weight. Subsequently Jockey Esser was fined $100 under AR120(b).

SPICEBOMB – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Shortly after straightening broke down in the off foreleg and was restrained out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bowed a tendon. Trainer Ms T Parry was told that prior to racing again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.

ROMANTICIZE – Shifted out at the start and made contact with another runner.

MR PEPPERS – Bumped at the start then raced wide rounding the home turn.

WILL’S CHOICE – Raced wide in the early stages.

Race 2: Maiden Plate 1000 metres:
1st – AERO FAST 2nd – TALE OF FORTUNE 3rd – PUREFLEET PRINCESS 4th – BRONZE TIARA

BRONZE TIARA – Was slow to begin.

WOOBINDA KEEPER – Jumped awkwardly then raced wide throughout.

ANASTASIA’S GREY – Shifted out at the start made contact with another runner.

PUREFLEET PRINCESS – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 3: Open Handicap 1100 metres:
1st – FIVE O’CLOCK 2nd – COURT ACTION 3rd – CARRY ME 4th – FOREWARNED

FIVE O’CLOCK – Bumped with another runner at the start.

JOHNNYDRAMA – Bumped by another runner on jumping then raced wide throughout.

ALBERTIQUE – Raced wide rounding the turn near the 600 metres.

DARCEY – Was standing awkwardly in the gates and missed the start.

FOREWARNED – Raced wide throughout. Trainer Mr K Krogh reported that the gelding sustained an injury to its off fore hoof. Mr Krogh was advised that prior to racing again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.

Race 4: Benchmark 50 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – SHOWS US THE WAY 2nd – MOHONGA 3rd – ZATSACAT 4th – SHIMAZU

LITTLE VICTORIES – When no other rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey T Chambers to ride the mare 2kg over its declared weight.

MORE TO IT – Jumped awkwardly then raced wide throughout.

AZUSA – Slow into stride.

CHAMPAGNE FLYER – Raced wide throughout.

MAHONGA – Laid out rounding the home turn.

SHIMAZU – Jockey S Galvin was fined $200 under AR137A for using the whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 5 more than permitted under the rule. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his good record in relation to the rule.

Race 5: Open Handicap 1700 metres:
1st – REVEL IN THE CHAOS 2nd – SMOOTH GENERAL 3rd – MAN OF MELODY 4th – SNAZZY SOX

COOL AS HEL – Raced wide in the early stages.

INNER SILENCE – Raced wide in the early stages.

Approaching the 200 metres SMOOTH GENERAL (Jockey K Ballard) was momentarily crowded between SNAZZY SOX (Jockey J Kropp) which shifted out marginally and MAN OF MELODY (Jockey T Chambers) which shifted out under pressure. Jockey Chambers was reprimanded under AR137(a) and advised that in future she would be expected to stop riding and straighten sooner than she did on this occasion.

MAN OF MELODY – Jockey T Chambers was reprimanded under AR137A for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 2 more than permitted under the rule.
