GENERAL
 
As Jockey C Meehan was unavailable due to acceptable reasons and not riding at today’s meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards summary.
 
With the Nanango Turf Club experiencing overcast and showery weather with storms and heavy rain in the area, Stewards in consultation with Club officials, Trainers and Jockeys, brought the start times forward to the following times: Race 2 – 2.00pm,Race 3 – 2.30pm,Race 4 – 3.00pm and Race 5 – 3.35pm. All revised start times were announced by the on-course broadcaster.
 
Race 1: MALCOLM MCCALLUM MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing Jockey D. Boutet, rider of third placed FLYING TO MARS to view the photo finish of the event. When Jockey Boutet and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.

EMPEROR TEIO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BRONZE MEMORY – Slow to begin. Shifted wide rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHE'S SO SWANK – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SECRET CAVIAR – Slow to begin. Shifted wider passing the 700m and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
Race 2: NANANGO RSL / PEDERSEN FAMILY MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
 
COLTMAN – Laid in slightly under pressure passing the 100m. Apprentice M Mankelow accidently dropped her whip passing the 120m.
 
BABU KING – Slow to begin.
 
GETTIN' LIPPY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
KOGA NINJA – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
PAPER COWBOY – Momentarily placed in restricted room passing the 100m betweenCOLTMAN which laid in slightly under pressure and FOREBEARS which shifted out marginally before being straightened by its rider. Apprentice I Jessop accidently dropped her whip passing the 50m.
 
FOREBEARS – Shifted out marginally whenunder pressure passing the 100m before being straightened by its rider.
 
RICHKISS – Raced wide throughout.
 
SOLARCH – Declared a late scratching at 7:57am at the request of the trainer for acceptable reasons.
 
Race 3: VALE PAT DUFF / MEMBERS CUP OPEN PLATE 1000 Metres
 
KING KLAUS – Bumped shortly after the start when ON HOLD was shifted out by CABRINELLA.
 
MASTERPLAN – When Trainer B Stewart was applying the Pacifiers which were part of the gear required to be worn with Blinkers by MASTERPLAN in today’s event the straps used to secure the Pacifiers broke making them unsuitable for use. When a replacement set of Pacifiers could not be found on-course, Stewards permitted a request from Mr Stewart for MASTERPLAN to only wear Blinkers in the race. This change of gear was announced by the on-course broadcaster prior to the race. Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CABRINELLA – Jumped outwards taking ON HOLD wider. Apprentice M Mankelow accidently dropped her whip passing the 200m.
 
ON HOLD – Shifted wider on jumping when CABRINELLA jumped outwards and bumped KING KLAUS.
 
Race 4: COMMERCIAL HOTEL BURNETT TO THE BEACH - FINAL - BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing the trainer of second placed FLICK to view the photo finish of the event. When Trainer K Afford and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
HURRICANE HALL – Slow to begin.
 
WAR TOO ALL – Slow to begin.
 
BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice P Carter reported that the mare felt to race flat in today’s event and in her opinion, BRAIDWOOD QUEEN may not have been suited by todays track conditions.
 
BOITUMELO – Slow to begin.
 
CHILL OUT MISS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
I'M FAMOUS – Declared a late scratching at 8:26am when it was reported by the trainer that the gelding was lame in the near side hind leg. Trainer G. Parker was advised I’M FAMOUS would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
OPAQUELY – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 5: HERITAGE BANK NANANGO QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1600 Metres
 
MOTION SENSOR – Hed up for clear running from the 500m until entering the home straight. Steadied on the line when placed in restricted room between CONTESSA NILE and FRIJOLES which laid in over the concluding stages. Rider of FRIJOLES, Jockey R Payne was reminded of her obligations to stop riding and straighten her mount when it is shifting ground.
 
GUS THE BUS –Commenced to weaken from the 600m.Trainer K Brewster reported that GUS THE BUS had bled both nostrils in the race. Trainer K Brewster was advised that pursuant to AR79(4), the gelding would receive a 3 month ban from racing and will require a 1000m gallop or Official trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before resuming racing.

BAMBALAM – Raced wide throughout.
 
HE'S VIRAL (NZ) – Blundered on jumping.
 
HELL OF A PRINCE – Raced wide throughout.
 
CHICKA – Slow to begin.
 
FRIJOLES – Bumped on jumping. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
DOLLY DISCO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
VANILLA TWIST – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped FRIJOLES. Tailed off passing the 1000m and took no competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer B Bennett was advised that a suspension to compete in races would be placed on VANILLA TWIST and the gelding will be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. Trainer B Bennett advised Stewards that it would be his intension to retire VANILLA TWIST from any further racing.
 
INDENTED HEAD – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Apprentice M Mankelow accidently dropped her whip passing the 200m.
 
CONTESSA NILE – Slow to begin. Passing the 500m, improved on to the heels of the weakening GUS THE BUS and had to steady. Held up for clear running until passing the 300m before shifting out around GUS THE BUS to obtain clear running.
