Venkaya advised Stewards prior to Race 1 that he would be 0.5kg overweight in race 1, and 1.5kg overweight in races 3, 4, 5 and 6. After speaking to trainers B. Dixon and J. Patterson, Stewards permitted V. Venkaya to take his rides and subsequently fined him $300 under AR145. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account jockey Venkaya’s good record under this rule.Following Race 6, Stewards inquired into a complaint by trainer J. Patterson in relation to Mr. E. Brassington assisting the barrier attendants in Race 6. After taking evidence from both parties and trainer L. Baker, it was established that Mr Brassington had experience as a starter and barrier attendant, had no involvement in the ownership of MORE FAVULOUS, and did not physically assist with the loading of MORE FAVULOUS. Given this evidence Stewards took the matter no further.Race 1: COMBINED AGENTS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1100MMISHANI ISTANA – Trainer B.
