Race 1: Wimmers Premium Soft Drinks Maiden Plate – 1800m

RED SAGA – Apprentice S. Fawke was fined $200 for failing to claim down to his riding weight.

AMAWIN – Slow to begin.

NIGHTLY AIM – Raced wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to position outside the lead passing the 1100m.

SAHARA SIREN – After being held up for clear running passing the 600m, was then obliged to shift back to the inside near the 450m in an attempt to secure clear running and in doing so clipped the heels of AMAWIN and blundered, almost dislodging its rider.

MANDAROSSO - Lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 2: Coastline BMW Maiden H'cap – 1200m

MIA MAGIC - Prior to correct weight, stewards reviewed the film to ascertain if MIA MAGIC had been denied a fair start. Stewards were satisfied that the mare was afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings. Trainer B. Brown was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the mare prior to its next race start. Jumped away very awkwardly and shifted out towards the outside fence, dislodging its rider and made heavy contact with the outside fence. A post race veterinary examination revealed multiple abrasions of the off foreleg, and large fluid swelling on the top of its near-side knee.

ZOUZOUKAKIA – Blundered near the 700m. Jockey G. Colless reported that his mount overraced after passing the 800m and weakened over the final 300m and proved disappointing. Trainer N. McCall confirmed her disappointment in the performance and indicated to stewards that the horse would now be sent for a spell.

LAST MOMENT – Had some difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

MR METICULOUS – Apprentice S. Fawke was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Following this event the track rating was upgraded to Heavy 8.


Race 3: XXXX Class 3 Plate – 1200m

HAMACHO – Slow to begin.

ARGIE’S HEART – Slow to begin.


Race 4: Hot91.1 Ladies Oaks Day May 27 Class 1 H'cap – 1400m

No racing incidents.


Race 5: Yalumba QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1000m

GO BETTER – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Hung out from the 600m until entering the home straight.

TYCOON ACE – Apprentice T. Brooker reported her mount hung out from shortly after the start until entering the home straight, and did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event. Trainer Mr T. Sears advised the horse would now be sent for a spell. .A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Apprentice S. Eilbeck advised that the gelding travelled well, however when asked for an effort after passing the 400m proved disappointing and weakened. Trainer Mr T. Bourke advised that he would have a veterinary inspection performed and have blood tests taken and report back to stewards in the coming days. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

ALL TROOPS – Held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 300m.

SPIRIT AND GRACE – Raced ungenerously throughout.




Race 6: Parklands Tavern Class 1 H'cap – 1000m

KNIGHTWICK MANOR – Trainer B. Dais was reprimanded for presenting the horse with
incorrect gear. Laid out rounding the home turn and under pressure in the home straight. Stewards questioned Jockey A. Spinks in relation to his whip use as he was in breach of the whip rule. Jockey Spinks indicated that as the horse had hung out for most of the race he made use of the whip in an attempt to straighten his mount. Stewards accepted his explanation as the film evidence supported jockey Spinks’ explanation.

MARC’S DIESEL – A pre-race veterinary examination of the horse, which brushed the fence behind the gates, cleared the gelding to race.

DANGLISSA GIRL – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Had to be steadied after passing the 700m when obliged to race in restricted room.

EARL OF FORDYCE – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

LOVELY CHAP – Had to be steadied near the 800m when tightened for room between runners. Laid in after leaving the 700m.

BECCA THE JET – Inconvenienced by another runner approaching the 200m.


Race 7: Butler McDermott Lawyers Class 4 H'cap – 1800m

TOUCH OF BELLA - Declared a late scratching at 1 pm on veterinary advice after sustaining a laceration to the near-side hock en route the track.

REFUSTRESS – Slow to begin. Lost its near hind plate in running.

QABLA – Caught wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1300m.

BRAZEN – Held up rounding the home turn.

PLANET AMERICA – Raced wide from the 700m. Jockey R. Fradd was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

ROCKDAY – Jockey A. Spinks was fined $300 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
