Stewards enquired into the race day fall which resulted in Appr. O. Kendal being dislodged and MISHANI FORTUNE being euthanised on humane grounds. Stewards heard evidence from all parties and viewed the patrol film available to them. Stewards formed the opinion that when leaving the 500m- 600m point O. Kendal appears to be attempting to improve her position and at that point the horse has either stumbled or blundered and as a result she has become dislodged and fallen heavily. MISHANI FORTUNE was very lame and after going a short distance was caught and then examined by the attending Veterinary Surgeon. This examination revealed the horse had suffered an open compound fracture to it’s front right radius and was euthanised on humane grounds. Stewards were unable to identify any one person or one issue that may have caused the incident. Therefore, Stewards are of the opinion this matter should be recorded as an unfortunate racing incident.
