SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT, Townsville 17th December 2016
 
Race 6: Civilworx Class 3 Plate
 
Trainer E. Sewell reported that BRAVE BOW was found to have lacerations to its off front leg.
 
LATE RIDING CHANGES
 
As Jockey K. Rockett was not riding at today’s meeting due to personal reasons, he was replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

RACE 1: www.townsvilleturfclub.com.au QTIS Two-Years Old Maiden Handicap -  1000 metres
1st  - SPECIALSTYLE2nd -  STUDMAN  3rd  -  ELITE JET  4th -  CRAIGLEA NIKITA
 
GREY MISSILE – Slow to begin, then had a tendency to lay out throughout the event.
 
SPECIAL STYLE – Slow to begin. Connections advised that following the filly’s performance today it is now their intention that it be sent for an immediate spell.
 
ELITE JET – Slow into stride. When questioned about the performance of the horse, rider G. Kliese explained that this was the colt’s normal racing pattern, however it was a little dour over the concluding stages. Connections advised that it is now their intention that ELITE JET be sent for an immediate spell.
 
CRAIGLEA MONETA – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
CRAIGLEA NIKITA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
RACE 2: Like The TTC on Facebook Maiden Handicap -  1000 metres
1st  - FUJIN  2nd  - ALL BAR LILY3rd - EASY WEEKEND  4th -  MR ADJUDICATOR   
 
Prior to the race NADEEM ESPRIT, which was resuming after a lengthy spell, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.  Had difficulty obtaining clear running after entering the home straight and had to be steadied near the 200 metres and again near the 100 metres, and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
Prior to the race NEWMAN, which was resuming after a lengthy spell, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Began awkwardly and was tightened between runners shortly after the start.
 
The start was delayed when BANOFFE proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer L. McCormack was advised that a warning will be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
FUJIN – Shifted in on jumping away.
 
EASY WEEKEND – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
HAMPDEN BOY – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
LITTLE BIT TRASHY – Was hampered shortly after the start. Rider L. Attard advised stewards following the race that the mare had to work hard in the early stages then travelled comfortably in the middle stages and entering the home straight, however failed to let down when placed under pressure over the concluding stages and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Connections advised stewards that it was now their intention to spell the mare.
 
ALL BAR LILY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
RACE 3:  Book A Great Function at the TTC Class 6 Plate - 1200 metres
1st  -  TYZONE  2nd  - CRAIGLEA DEKEN   3rd - RACING HARADA   4th  -SMOOTH ELEMENT   
 
RACING HARADA – Began awkwardly.
 
TYZONE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 1100 metres.
 
Leaving the 1100 metres SMOOTH ELEMENT (Jockey I. Fry) had to be restrained when racing in restricted room to the inside of MADEMOISELLE ZARIZ (App. E. Cass), which shifted in.  Apprentice Cass was reprimanded and advised to ensure that she is clear of other runners before shifting ground.
 
SMOOTH ELEMENT – Was held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
Following the running of this race the track rating was upgraded to GOOD 3 retrospectively.
 
RACE 4: Become a TTC Member Today BenchMark 55 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st   SAPODILLA – 2nd NYMBOI  -  3rd  CARSON’S FELT  - 4th -  GLAMORGAN BABE

GLAMORGAN BABE – Slow to begin.
 
ZALSNAAP – Slow into stride.
 
NYMBOI – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
 
DANZ THE MAN –Slow to begin, then raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
MAINSHAFT  - Rider P. Cullen was reminded of his obligation in his use of the whip prior to the 100 metres.
 
RACE 5:  BMD Urban Open Handicap - 1000 metres
1st  -  LOVER OF LIFE  2nd  -  WISHFUL  3rd  -  WINGED WARRIOR  4th  -   CRAIGLEA CRUZ
 
RAPT IN RUMBA - Bumped at the start.
 
STANATHOL – Bumped another runner at the start.
 
WINGED WARRIOR -  Slow into stride.
 
HEARTFELT QUEST – Slow into stride.
FIVE O’CLOCK – Leaving the 700 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of CRAIGLEA CRUZ, which hung in. Improved onto the heels of tiring runners leaving the 100 metres and had to be steadied.
 
CRAIGLEA CRUZ – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event. Leaving the 700 metres hung in and inconvenienced another runner. Continued to hang in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
RACE 6: TTC ½ Yearly Membership on Sale Now BenchMark 65 Handicap  - 1609 metres
1st  - GAINSFORD  2nd  - OUR SINGLE DOUBT  3rd  - ISLAND BAR  4th  -  CRACOW
 
CRACOW – The start was delayed when the gelding proved very difficult to load. Trainer R. Kirkwood was advised that a warning will be placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.
 
BO ROSSA – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
OUR SINGLE DOUBT – Improved onto heels and was steadied near the 600 metres.
 
GAINSFORD – Commenced to over-race for a short distance leaving the 1500 metres and threw its head in the air. Shifted out near the 300 metres to obtain clear running and inconvenienced another runner. Rider P. Cullen was advised to exercise more care.
 
ALDREN – Steadied from heels near the 300 metres.
 
FILLE VILAINE – Shortly after the start, when being restrained from its wide barrier, commenced to race ungenerously and lost considerable ground. When questioned, rider L. Attard stated that the intention was to settle the horse in the back half of the field, however the mare resented being restrained. Trainer M. Geaney was reminded of his obligation to advise stewards of any change to riding tactics compared to the horse’s previous start.
 
After riding FILLE VILAINE in race 6 Jockey L. Attard became indisposed, was examined by the Ambulance Officers and was unable to fulfil his engagemt for SASSY DRAGON. Jockey N. Yadi was substituted. Jockey Attard was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to again riding in a race.
 
RACE 7: Merry Christmas From the TTC Class 1 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - VINCE THE PRINCE -  2nd  CAPITANEAR-  3rd  -  BONNIE BON BON  4th  - SLIPPERY SAGA
 
SATURDAY OF MAY – Refused to load into the barriers. Stewards ordered the late withdrawl of the gelding at 4.59 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on the horse be refunded and that the following deductions apply:
          6¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, VINCE THE PRINCE
          14¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, VINCE THE PRINCE
          13¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, CAPITANEAR
          14¢ in the dollar for 3rd, BONNIE BON BON
 
Trainer Mr S. Royes was advised that he must obtain 2 consecutive barrier certificates for the gelding before it will be permitted to race again.
 
BONNIE BON BON – Slow to begin.
 
IZZY’S KEEPER – Began awkwardly..
 
SASSY DRAGON – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Improved onto heels near the 400 metres and was checked.
 
SERIOUSLY HAPPY – Raced 4 wide with no cover.
 
VINCE THE PRINCE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CAPITANEAR – Shifted wider on the track leaving the 500 metres and raced very wide rounding the home turn.
