At 12.50p.m. the track rating was downgraded from SOFT 7 to HEAVY 8. Following further heavy shower’s the track rating was downgraded to HEAVY 9 following the running of Race 2.After the running of Race 3 the track was downgraded to HEAVY 10.
 
GENERAL:
Due to technical errors, blinkers did not appear in the Race Book for a number of runners: Race 2 CANON KING: Blinkers did not appear in the Race Book - not a gear change. Race 7: SPACE TIME Blinkers did not appear in the Race Book - not a gear change. Race 7: CHEERING Blinkers did not appear in the Race Book - not a gear change.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 1:  Townsville Fashion Festival 25th-28th May Maiden Handicap - 1400 metres
 
GROHL - Slow to begin. Leaving the 300 metres was disappointed for a run between BRED TO RULE and MORE THAN KALOOKAN, before shifting back to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
NUROCITY - Slow to begin.
 
MORE THAN KALOOKAN - Ricer Z. White reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang in throughout the race.
 
ZEDAHEEL - Raced 3 wide with no cover for the majority of the race. Lost its near fore plate during running. Rider Apprentice N. Nelson reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang out for the majority of the race.
 
Race 2: XXXX Gold QTIS 3-Years-Old Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when the bridle on ALPINE MAGIC required adjustment.
 
RICHTER SCALE - Slow to begin. Bumped shortly after the start.
 
CANON KING - Slow to begin.
 
CATHEDRAL CITY - Slow to begin.
 
ALPINE MAGIC - Bumped shortly after the start.
 
Race 3: www.townsvilleturfclub.com.au Open Handicap - 1000 metres
 
ROYAL PHYSICIAN - Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the race.

LADY SOUIX – Jockey G. Kliese advised stewards that in his opinion the mare failed to handle today's heavy track conditions and was not comfortable in the going.
 
Race 4: Mater Health Services Open Handicap - 1300 metres
 
After runners had arrived behind the barriers, heavy rain continued resulting in drainage issues, which proceeded to intrude onto the rack track near the 1200 metres. Stewards ordered that all horses return to the enclosure. Consequently, stewards abandoned the remaining races on the program due to continuing rain.
