QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOWNSVILLE, THURSDAY, 5 SEPTEMBER 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (4) RAIL – 2.5M 1000M – WINNING POST, TRUE REMAINDER PENETROMETER – 4.4 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Braunberger Starter – J. Cullen General: As jockey, F. Edwards was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness he was replaced as per Stewards summary. F. Edwards was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to his next race ride. Race 1: SKY RACING MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M HIBACHI MISS – Slow to begin. SOMEKINDOFBLISS – Slow to begin, then was hampered when crowded between runners. Became very awkward in its action shortly after the start and was retired from the race. A post- race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Connections were at a loss to explain the horse’s performance and gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to their attention in the coming days that may have had a bearing. Stewards advised connections that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again. CHAMPAGNE TILLY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race. CRAIGLEA SOPHIE – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards. Raced wide for the majority of the race. NORWEGIAN WOOD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. SEAMAD - Hampered by another runner which shifted out slightly approaching the 100m, having to be steadied. ARTE ET MARTE - Shifted out slightly under pressure approaching the 100m, hampering another runner. LEGAL LOOPHOLE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. YES SAY US – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 2: DOWNLOAD THE SKY RACING ACTIVE APP BENCHMARK 69 H’CAP – 1000M MAKE AMENDS – Slow to begin. MAKE HER OWN WHEY – Put its head to the side as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Laid out rounding the home turn. GERERAL SHORT – Hung out in the early and middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the early part of the straight, then when the rider switched hands with his whip the horse then commenced to lay in over the concluding stages. Whilst stewards noted this was the gelding’s first start going clockwise way, this matter was brought to the attention of trainer R. Chillemi. Race 3: BROWN BROTHERS QTIS 3YO CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M CRIME BOSS – Slow to begin. Shifted out near the 450m, forcing another runner wider. CRAIGLEA LIZZY – Began awkwardly. CRAIGLEA CLAY – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the middle stages and steadied near the 450m when forced wider. TIGER CAM – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Steadied from the heels of another runner near the 450m, which was being steadied when racing greenly. GOLDIE’S ARCHER – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 4: CANADIAN CLUB BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1609M GO DIAMONDS – Began awkwardly. SPIRITED CHARACTER – Over-raced in the middle stages. NO EFFORT NEEDED – Over-raced in the middle stages. NAUGHTY CORNER – Raced wide in the early stages. OSMOND – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 5: HYGAIN BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1300M LOVE ME RUBY – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. SYAMANTAKA MANI – Began awkwardly. FOXY FELINE – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race. THE GROOM – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race. SOLUMINATE – Blundered near the 1000m for no apparent reason. RUN HOFF RUN – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100m. CENTRO SUPERIOR – Raced wide for the majority of the race. FINE ‘N’ DEVINE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. BROKEN FINGER – Raced wide for the majority of the race. OAKFIELD AVENGER – Rider M. Elliott was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out right to the finish line. Race 6: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES OPEN H’CAP – 1400M CRAIGLEA WANDOO – Began awkwardly. Commenced to over-race for a short distance when crossed by another runner near the 1100m. BOLD KINGSTON – Over-raced in the early stages. HEARTBREAK HARRY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages, having to be restrained for some distance. EASY WEEKEND – Raced wide for the majority of the race. PORTMAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race. WARWICK AVENUE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. SEPTIMO – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. After returning to the horse tie-up collapsed. A veterinary examination revealed the horse to have suffered a massive heart attack and was found to be deceased. A swab sample was taken. Race 7: TAB CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M ANNE CATHERINE – As F. Edwards was indisposed and no other senior rider was available he was replaced by apprentice rider A. Thomson. Raced wide for the majority of the race. CEEBIZ KIT – Slow to begin. MICHELIN FIVE STAR – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race. MIRACLES APLENTY – Slow to begin and was then crowded for room by runners which shifted ground. DORDOGNE – Bumped shortly after the start and raced in restricted room for a short distance. RISING BOOM – Steadied when racing in restricted room near the 600m. HIGH DIVE – Restrained off heels leaving the 500m for a short distance. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. HE’S STIRLING – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 300m when tiring, having to be steadied. Raced wide for the majority of the race. INTENSE FOCUS – Shifted in slightly near the 300m, placing another runner in restricted room for a short distance. Raced wide for the majority of the race. ROCK BABY ROLL – Raced wide for the majority of the race. MERCURY BULLET – When questioned into the improved performance as to it’s previous run, trainer T. Comerford stated that the gelding raced wide at its previous start over a longer distance than that of today’s event which was a telling factor and further that horse is better suited over the shorter distance which it has raced well at this track and distance previously.
