Race 1: IFYS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1609m
 
TEARS TO GLORY – Slowly away. Severely checked and forced to shift wider near the 350m.

BALMACEDA – Was bumped by another runner near the 350m.
 
PURE REBEL – Was hampered and forced wider near the 350m.
 
BORELLA – Raced wide from the 600m. Was hampered and forced wider near the 350m.
 
CHIC SOX – Began awkwardly.
 
GREY TOP – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Severely checked near the 350m.
 
Jockey A Butler pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 350m he directed his mount ELECTRIFIED outwards into a marginal run when insufficiently clear of GREY TOP (App E Cass) resulting in that gelding having to be severely checked. TEARS TO GLORY (S Sheargold) which was following was also severely checked. PURE REBEL (N Day) and BORELLA (S Wilson) which were racing to the outside of TEARS TO GLORY were both hampered and forced wider. Jockey Butler’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence Sunday December 20, 2020 up to and including Wednesday December 30, 2020. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Butler’s very good record in relation to the rule and his guilty plea, as well as the level of interference, which was deemed to be in the mid-range.
 
Race 2: LIVING TURF OPEN Handicap 1200m
 
DALON – Was inconvenienced near the 1000m by a runner to its outside which shifted in when not fully clear to do so.
 
REVENIRE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
SNIPPY STRATEGIC – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
JEMADAR - Was inconvenienced near the 1000m by a runner to its outside which shifted in when not fully clear to do so.
 
MISHANI REDMAN – Raced wide for the majority.
 
MASKING – Was buffeted between runners on jumping.
 
Jockey S Wilson was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount BOLD KINGSTON to shift in near the 1000m when not fully clear to do so, inconveniencing both DALON (S Sheargold) and JEMADAR (App K Swaffer).
 
Race 3: IMPACT DRILL AND BLAST Maiden Plate 1300m
 
Soon after the commencement of loading LIGHTHEADEDNESS, which was fractious behind the barriers, dislodged Jockey P Cullen and was declared a late scratching at 2.42pm. Jockey Cullen, who sustained an injury to his left shoulder in the incident, was attended by QAS Officers and subsequently transported to Townsville Hospital for treatment. Jockey Cullen will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Replacement riders as per Stewards Race Day Summary. As a result of this incident Races 3,4 and 5 were all put back 1 timeslot and Race 6 was rescheduled to jump at 5.13pm.
 
BORROMEO – Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
BRAZEN RASCAL - Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
DEMURRAL - Shifted out on jumping tightening runners to its outside.
 
MAHIS MONELLO – Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
SHADOW ECLIPSE - Raced wide for the majority.
 
ALL TOO NATURAL – Slowly away. Jockey F Edwards pleaded guilty a charge under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner, 19 times, throughout the event. Jockey Edwards’ licence to ride in races was suspended or a period of 8 days to commence Sunday December 13, 2020 up to and including Sunday December 20, 2020. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Edwards’ record in relation to the rule.
 
BOSS'S DAUGHTER – Slowly away. Jockey J Babarovich pleaded guilty a charge under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner, 20 times, throughout the event. Jockey Babarovich’s licence to ride in races was suspended or a period of 7 days to commence Sunday December 13, 2020 up to and including Saturday December 19, 2020. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Babarovich’s record in relation to the rule.
 
FLASH FOX – Dislodged App E Cass during preliminary. App Cass declared herself fit to fulfil her engagement. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FOXY SECRET – Eased off heels near the 1250m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
GLITTER EXPRESS – Shifted in on jumping tightening runners to its inside. Post-race was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. Trainer M Geaney, who advised it would now be the intention to retire the mare, was nonetheless advised that the mandatory 3 months ban would apply and further that a satisfactory gallop of 1000m in the presence of a Steward would be required prior to GLITTER EXPRESS again being permitted to start in a race. AR79.
 
NEW SECRET – Had to be checked to avoid the heels of a tiring runner near the 200m.
 
MRS SHMICKELBERG – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on LIGHTHEADEDNESS be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to 2.42pm be subject to the following deductions

Race 4: CARLYLE GARDENS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000m
 
As the field was being loaded THE WAITERS EYE was kicked by another runner sustaining a wound to the off hind leg. Stewards, after being advised by Starter Mr J Cullen that the gelding would be a late scratching, conveyed this information to the on-course Broadcaster. The time of scratching was 4.02pm. Following the running of the race Stewards, after being notified of concerns in relation to the scratching of the horse, interviewed Mr Cullen, Barrier Attendant Mr B Farrell and on-course Veterinarian Dr D Viero. During the course of the discussion it was established that Mr Cullen had not been directly notified by Dr Viero, but rather by a number of barrier staff, that THE WAITERS EYE was to be scratched due to injury. When questioned Dr Viero confirmed that this had in fact been the case, however also stated that more than likely, in the circumstances, she would have ordered the scratching of the horse. Stewards admonished both Mr Cullen and Mr Farrell and intend to refer the matter to the Townsville Turf Club with a recommendation that all starting procedures be reviewed and further that remedial measures be put in place to eliminate the possibility of a similar occurrence in the future.
 
SMITHY'S HAMMER – Slowly away. Over-raced in the early stages. Restrained off heels rounding the home turn.
 
LEO'S DEN – Raced greenly down the running.
 
ARTEMIS GIRL – Shifted out abruptly under hard riding soon after jumping hampering runners to its outside. Jockey N Day was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a). Was forced to alter course several times in the home straight to avoid the heels of a runner which was racing greenly.
 
FIVEACLOCKSOMWHERE - Raced wide for the majority.
 
READY BETTY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SHUTTER MONKEY – Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BETTER THAN THAT – Became unbalanced when bumped heavily soon after jumping.
 
BIKIE CHIC - Became unbalanced when bumped heavily soon after jumping.
 
PAMILL - Raced wide for the majority.
 
PLENTY OF TICKER - Became unbalanced when bumped heavily soon after jumping.

PERFECT KNOWLEDGE – Held up for clear running for a considerable distance in the home straight.
 
THE MECHANIC – Slowly away after being fractious in the barrier. Had to be restrained off heels when over-racing passing the 500m.
 
HI ZERO – Began awkwardly.
 
DO THE HIPPY - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DEEP MELODY – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.

BLAZON TALES – Slowly away. Restrained off heels rounding the home turn. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.

FINAL WARNING – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to its outside.
 
TEMPO (NZ) - Raced wide for the majority.
 
HOWYALIKEMENOW – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
UP THE RIVER – Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
GRACEFUL ZARIFA – Slowly away.
 
HERSHISER – Began awkwardly.
 
NOBODY BETTER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
 
STOLEN DIAMONDS - Shifted in on jumping bumping with a runner to its inside.
