CareyRace 1: Happy 30th Birthday Nikita Class 5 H'cap 1200m ROCKLEA RAIDER – Reared high in the barriers as the gates opened and became fractious, dislodging its rider and subsequently took no part in the event. Trainer S. Neylon was advised a barrier certificate would be required for the gelding prior to its next race start. JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin. Hung in from the 600m and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight. Trainer M. Callaghan was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its racing manners. MASSIVE ATTACK – When being restrained near the 900m threw its head in the air and raced ungenerously for a considerable distance. Apprentice J. Oliver could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance other than the horse had a tendency to hang out for the duration of the event. Trainer B. Currie expressed disappointment with the performance tonight which he attributed to the horse backing up relatively quickly from its most recent start. He added in light of this he will now endeavour to space the horse’s runs where possible. Race 2: Yarrawonga Santa Gertrudis Class 1 H'cap – 1200m MISS GRANGER – Trainer B. Currie was fined $100 for failing to present the horse on course by the prescribed time. When being restrained approaching the 1000m raced with its head in the air for some distance. IMA SHOWMAN – Near the 1100m was forced to steady to avoid the heels of LOST CLASSIC, which was taken in by MISS GRANGER. Apprentice J. Oliver, rider of MISS GRANGER, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care to fellow riders in similar circumstances. Raced greenly in the home straight.RITZY BELLE – Steadied to avoid heels at the 1100m. DAZZLING SHIRAZ – Shifted out near the 700m to avoid the heels of another runner and as a result raced wide for the remainder of the race. Jockey N. Tomizawa was fined $100 for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m. RUNAWAY RULER – Forced wide on the track by another runner near the 700m and raced wide without cover from that point. HAMMERACK – Steadied at the 500m when unable to improve into a narrow run. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: Diamond H Santa Gertrudis Stud Class 3 H'cap – 1000m CHOSEN COURT – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout. WILL TO RULE – Slow to begin. Laid out near the 700m for a short distance and was forced to steady from heels. Momentarily held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. LONHRO’S SPIRIT – Laid in under pressure in the straight. JAI’S LUCK – Obliged to race 3 wide throughout. On return to scale apprentice Stower reported her mount felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. DR DEEJAY – Jockey N. Tomizawa was reminded of his obligations regarding raising his whip arm above shoulder height. VIMZIG – When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey R. Goltz advised that the gelding never travelled strongly on the bit throughout the event. He added that from the 500m he was able to follow the eventual winner into the race, however VIMZIG failed to sprint as he expected at that point of the race and over the concluding stages proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 4: Waco Santa Gertrudis Stud Benchmark 70 H'cap – 1625m KAYENTA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages with its head in the air, however when able to secure a position one off the fence with cover approaching the 800m began to race more tractably. WAR FRONT – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up at the heels of a tiring runner near the 500m. SWINDLERS MISS – After being caught wide in the early stages, was then allowed to stride forward and obtain the leading position near the 1300m. STORM MAGIC – On return to scale jockey S. Bogenhuber advised that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout the event, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Race 5: Glenn Oaks Santa Gertrudis Stud Maiden Plate – 1850m HERRSCHAFT – The start was delayed when the horse proved difficult to load. Connections will be advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its barrier manners. FLYING COLOURS – Slow to begin.GRAN SABANA – Raced wide from the 700m. Apprentice J. Oliver cold offer no tangible explanation for the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. WYNORTYN – When commencing to weaken was steadied when placed in restricted room near the 600m. Raced wide throughout. On return to scale, apprentice L. Attard reported his mount was inclined to overrace throughout the event. JONDY GLO – Following the poor performance, trainer J. Thomas advised that the horse will now be spelled immediately, during which time he would review the horse’s racing future. PARIS BY NIGHT – When questioned regarding the poor performance, apprentice R. Williams reported that the horse travelled only fairly throughout the event and was making an abnormal breathing noise, which she felt was the major contributing factor in the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination confirmed the horse to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer’s representative advised that in light of the veterinary report and the advice of the jockey they would now have the horse undergo an endoscopic examination and would report the findings to stewards. AMAWIN – Jockey N. Evans was fined $200 for using his whip 8 times and on 2 consecutive occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty stewards took into account his good record. Race 6: Santa Gertrudis Cup QTIS 3yo Maidne H'cap – 1300m KAVALONG – Connections advised that the horse will be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. DREAMER’S GOAL - Connections advised that the horse will be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. WINSOME AM – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously; for a short distance at the 1000m. ERROL – Slow to muster early speed. BLUE BANJO – Raced wide throughout.IRONBORN – Raced wide without cover throughout the event. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of the winner, trainer J. Fraser advised that at its most recent start at Ipswich the horse was severely tightened for room at the start, clipped heels and blundered and as a result settled further back in the field than anticipated, which she felt was the major contributing factor in the performance on that occasion. J. Fraser added that the horse worked well in preparation for tonight’s event and as such expected a forward showing. Race 7: Rabobank Maiden H'cap – 870m GOOD GRACIOUS – Presented to race without a bubble cheeker which was part of the horse’s approved gear. As trainer G. Hardy failed to bring this gear to the track, and another bubble cheeker was unable to be located the horse subsequently raced without this gear. Trainer G. Hardy was fined $100. MADAME AZANTE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance shortly after the winning post. Trainer P. Moncrieff was fined $100 for presenting the horse with incorrect gear. BLAZING BELLE – Began awkwardly and lost groundPAT ME PLEASE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m. Raced in restricted room to the inside of SIR LOCKSMITH which laid in despite the efforts of its rider near the 700m. NOTHIN’ ZAPPENIN’ - Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m.
