GREYT START – Began very awkwardly, made contact with the outside barrier gate and then shifted in abruptly, making heavy contact with SUGAR CITY, resulting in apprentice English becoming unbalanced. In this incident, GREYT START lost significant ground. Furthermore, on returning to scale apprentice H. English reported that her saddle shifted during this incident, which placed her at a disadvantage during the early stages of the event.

SUGAR CITY – Tightened for room at the start.

HOT LIPSTICK – Began awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

WHAT A SMILE – Laid in in the early stages.

I’M SO EPIC – Following the filly’s disappointing performance, trainer P. Sexton advised that it is now is intention to spell the horse. Mr Sexton was advised that in the event that the horse is not sent for a spell, it would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to race again.

Race 2: EXPLORE PROPERTY CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1050M

CHICA PEEPS – Made contact with another runner on jumping away.

DANCE HALO – Made contact with another runner on jumping away. Raced ungenerously in the early stages and lost some ground. Tightened for room and eased near the 350m.

MAGIC SQUARE – Began awkwardly and was tightened for room at the start and as a result settled further back in the field than anticipated.

MY BELLA RUBY – On returning to scale apprentice R. Williams reported that her mount laid out for the majority of the event.

ROSIE POSIE – Held up for clear running from the 500m until entering the home straight.

BECCA THE JET – Raced in restricted room for some distance shortly after the start and was forced to be steadied by its rider.

Race 3: RAY WHITE RURAL TOOWOOMBA CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1110M

The start of this race was effected manually.

The start of this race was delayed when GOHARDASUN, which was fractious in the barriers and became cast, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared a late scratching at 6.03 p.m. on veterinary advice. Trainer C. Smith was advised that he must obtain two further barrier certificates for the horse prior to it being permitted to race again. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on GOHARDASUN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

7 cents in the dollar for the Win #2
8 cents in the dollar for place of winner #2
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #9
9 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4

ISLA POPPY – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.

KING OF THE FLAME – Near the 900m raced in restricted room to the inside of ONE IN ONE OUT, which shifted in when not completely clear. Apprentice T. Brooker, the rider of ONE IN ONE OUT, was reprimanded.

ONE IN ONE OUT – Laid out when placed under pressure with the whip near the 50m and as a result the rider was forced to stop riding and straighten.

Race 4: HAMBLIN BUILDING CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1310M

After taking evidence from apprentice L. Tilley (BLUE STAR), S. Bogenhuber (TRIPLE JEOPARDY) and J. Missen (HASHTAG YOLO), Stewards adjourned an inquiry to a time and date to be fixed in relation to the circumstances surrounding apprentice H. English being dislodged from KID CRUIZE near the 900m to allow apprentice English, who was transported to hospital for observation, to give evidence.

CUBAN FURY – Bumped with another runner over the concluding stages.

FLAUTINO – For the majority of the home straight, when attempting a narrow run, laid in behind another runner despite the efforts of its rider and proved difficult to ride out over the concluding stages.

BLUE STAR – Raced wide throughout. On returning to scale apprentice L. Tilley could offer no tangible explanation for his mount’s poor performance. Stewards will follow up with trainer N. Hilton regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.

TRIPLE JEOPARDY – Momentarily held up at the 500m and shifted out to obtain clear running.

DRIVING WHEELS – Ridden forward to a leading position near the 900m after being caught wide in the early stages.

KID CRUIZE – Jumped in the air at the start and lost some ground. Commenced to overrace from shortly after the start.

ROCKLORD – Bumped with another runner over the concluding stages.

HASHTAG YOLO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 5: STEVE KAUTER ELECTRICAL RATINGS BAND 0-62 H'CAP – 1880M

DOUBLE EAGLE – Raced wide throughout. Stewards questioned apprentice L. Attard as to whether there was an opportunity to allow his mount to stride forward exiting the home straight on the first occasion to a position one off the fence rather that maintaining his mount in a three wide position. Apprentice Attard advised that prior to the event he was advised by the trainer that as the horse was racing in blinkers tonight it may have had a tendency to overrace if overly pressured early and for that reason was reluctant to pressure the horse to obtain a more forward position. Having had the opportunity to review the film with the Stewards, apprentice Attard agreed that despite his instructions it would have been more advantageous to stride forward to a position one off the fence. Stewards were not, however, satisfied that the ride fell below the required standard and took the matter no further.

CASINO GOLD – Steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room leaving the 1700m.

ROCKDAY – Momentarily placed in restricted room over the concluding stages.

Race 6: HOT FM BM80 H'CAP – 1650M

TINTS – Brushed the running rail near the 900m.

OGGIE – Apprentice T. Brooker was substituted as the rider when apprentice H. English was injured after being dislodged from her mount in Race 4. Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the event and was observed to have a small amount of blood present in the nearside nostril. As he was satisfied that the presence of blood was a result of external trauma, the horse was permitted to start.

JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up on the heels of a tiring runner near the 400m.

Race 7: SHANNON SIGN COMPANY MAIDEN PLATE – 1110M

The start of this race was delayed when BROLGA’S BID required resaddling in the enclosure.

SAID WRITTEN – Trainer B. Currie was fined $100 for failing to produce the horse’s Thoroughbred Identification Card. Bumped heavily by another runner approaching the 600m.

ITALIAN AFFAIR – Bumped with another runner at the start. Raced ungenerously when being restrained from heels near the 900m and again near the 800m.

POETIC DRAGON – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages and then went forward and obtained the leading position near the 600m.

TRUE JOY – Improved on to heels at the 700m and again at the 500m and near the 350m clipped the heels of the runner forward of it, blundered badly and almost dislodged the rider.

LIBERTY JANE – Shifted out and made heavy contact with another runner approaching the 600m.
