Tactics and performance queried. Rider M Cahill reported that the gelding was slow to begin and settled back further than anticipated. He further added that he attempted to ride for luck from the 600m which did not eventuate until entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

When questioned as to whether there was an opportunity to obtain a position with cover behind EIGHTYTHREE BRICKS passing the 1400m, rider G Walters stated that he momentarily gained cover but was mindful that the mare was one paced and was better suited with an uninterrupted run and as such, he permitted his mount to shift back out into a three wide position passing the 1000m.
