When questioned by Stewards in relation to the gelding’s seemingly disappointing performance, jockey Beau Appo advised that his mount had failed to show its customary speed today, and did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding may not have handled the firm track conditions today, and when placed under pressure it failed to respond to his riding and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
