Became fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected and, as a result, struck its head on the barrier upright and lost significant ground. A post-race veterinary examination of MOHAKA RIVER revealed that the horse had sustained a laceration to its forehead. Connections advised that it is now their intention for the horse to be retired. Nevertheless, connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.
