Held up from the entrance to the straight until the 100m. Jockey J. Byrne stated that after being unable to secure clear running up to that point he elected to move back to the inside of FIERCELY DEFIANT, however that gelding then shifted in and as a result he eased his mount as he was of the opinion that the mare could not finish in the placegetters. Stewards agreed with jockey Byrne however he was advised that he must ride his mounts out to the finish at all times. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Lost its off fore plate in running.
