Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages of the race. When asked to explain the disappointing performance, rider stated that when he was unable to cross and obtain the lead in the early stages, it commenced to race very fiercely and weakened in the home straight. He added it may have come to the end of its current preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer indicated to stewards that it was now his intention to send the gelding for an immediate spell.

Trainer reported horse had pulled up well following race but noted that it had now been disappointing in 2 career starts the anti-clockwise direction and therefore would trial horse prior to next start.
