C. Dell was questioned regarding the reasons his mount shifted out rounding the home turn, which enabled LEDOYEN to obtain a run to his inside. He stated that at its previous start at Eagle Farm, the gelding rolled in making the home turn and as a result he elected to ride with the whip in his right hand to prevent the gelding shifting in, however making the turn the horse shifted outwards.
