Trainer P. King was fined $200 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Bumped on jumping away. Jockey R. Wiggins reported behind the barriers that he felt something was amiss with the gelding. A veterinary examination revealed no issues and was passed fit to start.

Knuckled on jumping away. When questioned regarding his riding of the horse, apprentice M. Murphy stated he had been instructed by trainer P. Facoory to lead and that he complied with those instructions, positioning in front near the 900m, and that from the 500m he attempted to place some pressure on the gelding in an endeavour to increase the tempo and hopefully gain a break on the rest of the field.
