Hung in badly under pressure in the home straight, which prevented J. Lloyd from riding his mount out in his normal manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Co-trainer B. Rodgers was advised that the gelding must compete satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to racing again. Mr Rodgers advised stewards that the horse would be sent for a spell.

Following a report from the stablehand that when the gelding arrived on course it had some swelling in the neck region, which they felt may have been from an insect bite, the horse was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race. A further veterinary examination behind the barriers also passed the gelding fit to race.
