Stewards sought an explanation from M. Du Plessis regarding his riding of KAONIC over the final 500m and whether there was an opportunity to shift out to the outside of LE JUGE to improve. Jockey Du Plessis stated that he was held up to the inside of the heels of LE JUGE rounding the home turn until the 200m where he was able to shift out and his mount hit the line strongly. He added that he felt LE JUGE would sprint quicker than it did from the 400m, which would have allowed him to shift out sooner and afforded him clear running. Stewards noted his explanation.
