On arrival behind the barriers the saddle on the gelding was readjusted. Slow to begin. Near the 600 metres bumped and taken wider when MORT DOYLE shifted out to improve. Rider G Cartwright could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lame off hind leg. Trainer K kemp was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
