Near the 1300 meters steadied from the heels of KASEAR when over-racing and continued to do so for some distance. When asked to comment on the filly’s performance rider R Fradd stated after beginning slowly he elected from the wide draw to restrain for cover as NICCI’S SPIRIT was stepping up in distance. R Fradd further added the filly pulled very hard which in his opinion had a detrimental effect on its performance and felt would be better served dropping back in distance.

– Bumped on jumping. Became awkwardly placed at the heels of COSMIC GOSSIP near the 1300 metres and had to be steadied. R Maloney, rider of COSMIC GOSSIP, was advised to exercise greater care.
