Rider J Orman reported he felt something was amiss with the horse in the home straight and for this reason he elected to ease BLOOD THUNDER over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to suffering from heat stress and showing signs of the thumps. Trainer B Healy was advised BLOOD THUNDER must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
