After being fractious in the float whilst en route to the track, the gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon after arriving on course and found to have minor abrasions to the offside nostril and nearside hip, however, was passed fit to race. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Shifted in for a short distance when placed under pressure passing the 300m before being corrected by its rider.

On inquiry it was established that approaching the 1700m PROFIT was eased when crowded for room to the inside of SWING SHIFT, which was carried in slightly by SUPERGIANT. In the circumstances stewards did not believe there was sufficient evidence to warrant a careless riding charge, however, jockey A. Chau, the rider of SUPERGIANT, was advised to take more care when shifting ground in future. The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had a slow post-race recovery.
