Slow to begin. Forced to race wide rounding the home turn. When questioned as to the tactics adopted, Jockey L Rolls stated that the gelding was slow to begin which resulted in him settling further back than anticipated. Jockey Rolls added that leaving the 800m he elected to shift out to improve as he was concerned that runners forward of him were not going to take him into the race. Jockey Rolls further added that in making this decision he was also mindful of his instructions that the gelding was not suited when asked to sprint quickly off a slow tempo.
