When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey J Morris stated that he had been instructed to ride the gelding positively out of the barriers in an attempt to obtain a forward position. Jockey Morris added that these instructions were issued on the basis that the gelding had performed well when ridden in that fashion at its Victorian starts. Trainer J Walk confirmed the instructions and noted that the gelding was up in distance today. Mr Walk was reminded of his obligations to advise stewards of any intended change of tactics.
