Raced 3 wide throughout and was disappointing over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey S Doyle explained that the instructions were to have the horse in a handy position which it got to without any real pressure and even though travelling 3 wide, he felt the gelding travelled comfortably until a point passing the 300m and when asked for an effort failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
