Slow to begin. When questioned as to the disappointing performance, Jockey M McGuren stated that the gelding failed to travel comfortably at any stage in the event and in his opinion was disappointing. Jockey McGuren was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance. Trainer M Dunn was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance and undertook to advise stewards should any abnormality come to light in the days subsequent to the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken.
