Rider questioned re tactics specifically strong tempo set early stages - stated instructed to lead and setgenuine tempo as gelding failed to finish off previous races when leading in slowly run races. Added passing 1200m when KICKSTART MY HEART attempted to cross forward he allowed DEVILS FIRE to improve to comply with instructions and maintain position to inside KICKSTART MY HEART, which subsequently resulted in strong tempo being set.

Rider questioned re tactics early stages, specifically strong early tempo set when racing outside leader - stated passing 1200m appeared DEVILS FIRE, racing on inside, was content to set slow tempo and bearing in mind mount back in distance today elected to ride forward in attempt to cross DEVILS FIRE. Added at same time DEVILS FIRE commenced to improve to his inside and he was unable to cross to lead and passing 1100m restrained in attempt to settle at girth of DEVIL'S FIRE however, gelding continued to race strongly for some distance despite his efforts.
