Checked at the start. Stewards asked Jockey R. Plumb for an explanation regarding the geldings performance. Jockey Plumb explained that after being severely checked at the start, he settled at the rear of the field and the gelding contacted the rail on two occasions passing the 1000m when racing to the inside of BEAUETA. He added that the gelding finished fairly in the home straight but in his opinion the interference at the start had a direct bearing on todays performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

Jumped very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly resulting in POWERING and BEAUETA being checked. Raced very fiercely in the early stages and hung out despite the efforts of its rider and continued to hang out for a major part of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
