Delayed the start after being difficult to load. When questioned in regards to the tactics adopted today, rider D. Griffin stated that after being caught wide in the early stages and the lack of speed in the race, he elected to allow the gelding to improve forward and obtain the lead near the 1200m. Co-Trainer B. Guy confirmed those instructions to improve forward should he be caught wide as the horse had raced in this manner over the longer distances previously. Co-Trainer B. & D. Guy were advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners.

After being initially slow to begin was then inconvenienced shortly after the start by BLACKLOG which was forced outwards. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Connections were advised that they must obtain a veterinary clearance prior to the geldings next race start.
