When afforded the opportunity to comment on the horse's performance, apprentice M. McGillivray stated that after having a favourable run throughout the race the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 500m and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery rate and mild heat stress.
