The start was delayed when the horse lost its near fore plate during the preliminary. After being replated, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. On return to scale rider N. Thomas was of the opinion that the gelding put in an awkward stride near the 100m and may have suffered an injury on pulling up. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
