Blundered passing the 900m when checked from the heels of MASTER MAGIC AL which shifted in. Hampered rounding the home turn when racing in restricted room. Had to be steadied away from heels over the final 50m and shift back to the inside.

Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the expected performance of the horse, trainer B. Dais explained that the gelding had not started for over 12 months but had trialled well in blinkers leading up to today’s event. He was of the opinion that the gelding, from a favourable barrier, would be competitive. Stewards noted that the gelding was well supported in betting. Mr Dais advised that he and connections had only a small investment on the gelding today.

After leading in the early stages the horse compounded to finish a distant last. When questioned regarding the gelding’s poor performance, jockey L. Rolls was of the view that the horse may have choked down. Trainer B. Hill advised stewards that he would experiment with some gear changes for its future races, which may include adding a tongue tie.
