J. Lloyd reported at scale that shortly after the start his mount felt uncomfortable in its action and for this reason he elected not to pressure the gelding for the remainder of the event and was eventually eased out of the race in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings and a swab sample was taken. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that the gelding would be required to compete satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.
